“Nothing has been moved or taken,” Bug said.

Daemon looked over at his son as he thought about the way the night had progressed. On the surface, everything seemed fine. The party was a huge success and Rosalie had even looked like the happy bride. In fact, Colt had even appeared to be the doting husband, which he didn’t buy. Colt had hated the idea of marrying his daughter. No way could there be that quick of a turnaround in the feelings department.

“Something went down tonight,” Daemon said.

“What do you want me to do? Alert my men?” Bug asked.

He wasn’t going to correct his son. They were not his men. They took orders from Bug as they knew they came from him, the leader, the Prez. Not his fucking son.

Daemon tapped his desk and tried to figure out what he missed. Colt was there at all times, as was Rosalie. Warden never moved either.

“Maybe you’re thinking too much into this.”

“They’re sending them away, shitface,” Daemon said. “Gabby, Rosalie, and her little mouthy friend. They know.”

“You think they know you’re using Rosalie?” Bug asked. “I don’t buy it.”

“That’s why you’re not wearing this patch.” He slapped his chest and glared at his son. Sometimes he wished he’d smothered the little shit at birth, but he had always been a sucker for a baby. It was why he didn’t mind taking care of Rosalie when she was young. Also, not allowing Gabby to kill her in the womb had been a nice game to play. Forcing her to carry his child had been a cruel act, but one he’d enjoyed a lot.

“What do you want me to do?” Bug asked.

“If they know that Rosalie is an easy target, she has now outweighed her usefulness.”

“What about her getting pregnant?” Bug asked.

“I don’t give a shit if she gets pregnant or not. I was never going to keep the kid.” He had no use for Satan’s Death Riders spawn. “I want you to make the arrangement. The moment she comes back from the honeymoon, at the diner, I want her attacked.”

“How?” Bug asked. “She works for Al.”

“Then we’ll pay Al a little visit and make sure he knows what’s expected of him.”

Chapter Fourteen

“You need to get Petal off the fucking phone,” Colt said, finding himself even more irritated than usual.

Three days. They’d been on their honeymoon for three days and most of that time, Rosalie had spent on the phone either talking or video-calling Petal, from the ocean. He didn’t have any time with her, unless he walked alongside or trailed behind her.

She took Petal everywhere. Around the small villa, across the beach, even into town when they’d gone to do some shopping. He’d expected their nights to be clear, but no, Petal was there in some way, or Rosalie passed out from exhaustion.

Staring down at the swimming pool, Rosalie wore a one-piece and she currently rested her arms against the side of the pool. Her phone was set up and she was laughing at whatever Petal had said.

Dirty growled. “I’ve already invaded their girl weekend and now you want me to irritate Petal even more.”

“I sent you on that fucking cruise to keep Petal busy. Why aren’t you doing your job?”

“Dude, have you even taken the time to talk to Petal? To get to know her?” Dirty asked. “The woman is not stupid.”

“She doesn’t know you’re working for me.”

“She knows I’m there for a reason.”

Colt rubbed at his eyes. “Do I have to spell this out to you? Make her believe you’re interested in her. Talk to her, be nice, be sweet, or whatever works for the women you want to bang. I don’t even give a shit if you fuck her. Just do it. I need Rosalie’s undivided attention and I’m not getting that while she’s talking to her BFF.” Colt hung up irritated. He could already hear Dirty’s response in his mind. “Don’t you think that’s on you, rather than Petal?”

He’d tried to gain her attention and nothing.

Staring down at her in the pool, she picked up his orange juice that had a fancy umbrella coming out of the top, and she sipped on the straw. Since they had arrived at the private villa at a small remote island and Rosalie had seen her mother far away on a ship, he’d caught sight of her actually relaxing. He never realized how tense she was, all the freaking time. Now, though, he got the chance to see her completely relaxed and he enjoyed it.

Colt decided to stop watching her from afar and instead get his shit together, and head down to the pool. He wore a pair of shorts and a linen white shirt. The fabric was thin and he knew people could see his ink beneath. He didn’t care. Making his way to the pool, he paused just outside as he listened to Rosalie and Petal’s conversation.
