There was no point her staying at a party that was making her feel worse. Glancing around the room, she saw that her sister had already found some company. From the looks of it, another wolf, not that this surprised her. Dorothy was more for wolves than humans.

Just as she’d made the decision to send her sister a text, she couldn’t help but look toward the door as Beau, himself, came through. Several people, humans, and wolves, stopped to look at him.

Eloise couldn’t help but be drawn to him. Rose had warned her that she had a connection with Beau, regardless of the fact he’d been an ass to her.

He looked around the room and the moment he saw her, his gaze didn’t waver as he approached her. She didn’t try to escape. It was nice to finally be looked at and noticed.

Her heart began to pound and she felt the fluttering in her stomach that was always there. Also, she hated to admit that there was a pool of heat gathering between her legs. Why did Beau have to look so damn attractive all of a sudden? She watched him, unable to keep her eyes off him.

“Hello,” he said.

That gravelly voice made her nipples harden. Rose’s warning played in the back of her mind, and she tried to ignore it.

“Hello,” she said. She did a quick sweep of his costume and smiled. “A wolf rancher?”

“Rose did my costume,” he said.

This made her laugh.

“Sexy nurse, I like it. As it happens, I feel a little … achy. I think you might need to examine me.”

Eloise knew she should tell him to get lost, to back off, but they were at a party and tonight, she didn’t want to argue. It could have something to do with the arousal coursing through her body, she didn’t know for sure.

She looked past his shoulder at the dance floor. “Well, as I am a dead nurse, I think the only solution is that you take me onto that floor and dance with me.” She expected him to argue, but instead he held his hand out. There was no hesitation.

She felt compelled to touch him. The moment her hand slid into his, she felt … complete. There was no other word for it. This was how it was supposed to be between them.

Beau led the way, and within seconds she was in his arms, and her body felt like it ignited. She wanted to be close to him. The urge to rub herself all over him was so strong. Was this what Rose was talking about?

Arousal unlike anything she had ever felt consumed her. Staring into his eyes, she didn’t look away, just watched him as he looked back at her. No one else existed and she didn’t care if someone saw them.

“I’ve missed you,” he said.

“You don’t have to say anything.”

“I know, but what I am saying is the truth.”

She wanted to believe him. It was on the tip of her tongue to call him a liar, or to ask him what else he thought he was missing. Instead, she decided it was Halloween, and she didn’t want to cause a fight.

The truth was, she missed him as well, and to her, that sucked. Unlike Beau, she’d not caused an argument between them. She didn’t call him out on his bullshit, nor did she think the worst of him at their very moment of need.

“I missed you too,” she said.

His arms tightened around her, and she couldn’t deny how good it felt. Before he’d come into the room and took her into his arms, she felt like she’d been dying inside. Now, she was pretty sure she was coming alive.

Beau leaned in closer until his lips were directly at her ear. “You know I can scent how aroused you are, right?”

She took a deep breath and waited.

“I know what you want, Eloise. I know what your body needs.”

“Stop.”

“Have you felt like you’ve been burning up the past couple of weeks? Can you sleep? What are you dreaming about?” he asked.

Seconds passed, and she tilted her head to the side to look at him. “You already know the answer to that.”

His lips were once again at her ear. “I can help you.”

Eloise knew she had a decision to make. Tell him to get lost, or take him up on his offer. He wasn’t wrong. She’d not been sleeping well for a couple of weeks now.

What Rose had said was coming true. She was getting more aroused every passing second, and she knew it had to do with Beau. Removing her hands from his shoulders, she glanced around the dance floor to see Dorothy had already left. Without a doubt in her mind, she knew there would be a text letting her know where she was. Her mother wasn’t home either, she had another event.
