Chapter 25

Ender

Kissing Leif’s neck, I smiled as he groaned. “No sex while you’re drunk. Stop tempting me.”

Nuzzling against him, I did my best to press closer as we barely swayed. “I’m well on my way to sober.”

We’d been slowly moving in circles long enough that my mind had started to clear, but his scoff said he didn’t believe me. “Prove it.”

He was such a dork.

“I’m already embarrassed about what we’re doing and I’m trying not to trip over my feet or yours.” That made him laugh as he hugged me tight. “See? Sober enough to feel squirmy about why I’m so excited to be squirmy.”

Making a soft hum that was supposed to be a thoughtful sound, Leif pretended to mull over my answer. “I guess that’s believable and sober enough.”

For?

“I’m sober enough that I’m just going to pretend you answered that very clearly and I’m going to keep on dancing.” Because I wasn’t drunk enough for that conversation anymore. “If you wanted me to poke at that question, you should’ve done it a few minutes ago.”

The easy confidence that came with a drink was gone…along with the ridiculous nonsense that came out of my mouth too. Which was why even though part of me liked feeling confident, I thought twice about drinking in front of anyone I didn’t trust.

His chest jerked but he managed to keep his laugh quiet. “Okay, sober enough for grown-up fun.”

I could feel my face heating up, and I knew he’d seen it when his laugher burst out. “Yep, that counts too.”

Ugh.

“Have I mentioned that you’re a pain in the ass sometimes?” Nibbling on his neck got a groan from him and he quickly forgot my cheeky response. “But I liked dancing with you.”

One good drink beforehand made it bearable and he didn’t seem to have high expectations when I was at least slightly tipsy.

“I liked dancing with you too, and I really liked seeing you get all romantic for me.” His pleased, quiet laugh had my blush flaring back to life, but it was worth it when he gave me a tight hug and kissed my head. “Thank you for thinking of me and coming up with a wonderful night.”

“I’m glad you liked it.” And I was really glad he hadn’t thought it was stupid. “But do you know what would make tonight perfect?”

His soft, wicked chuckle said he knew what I was going to say, but he tried to play dumb. “I don’t know? Dessert?”

He knew me too well.

“No, not dessert.” Not at the moment, anyway.

We might need to refuel at some point, though.

“A movie?” Leif turned his head and nibbled on my neck, sending a shiver through me. “We both like cuddling.”

Especially now that we didn’t have to pretend all friends cuddled while watching shit blow up on-screen.

“No, but that sounds like a good idea for tomorrow afternoon.” Curl up, watch a movie and pretend we weren’t taking a nap.

Hmm, that might be romantic too with the right setting.

Was there an action movie that said you’re special and the most important person in my life?

Maybe something old school and romantic like Top Gun or The Mummy?

“Oh, does my pup want to have playtime?” He knew that was cheating because I always liked having playtime.

“No.” I managed to get the word out even though a slightly yippy voice in the back of my head was whining. “I think that’s a good idea to put on our to-do list tomorrow. Maybe Sundays should be our do things as partners day?”

Less romantic than an actual date but more special than errands?

It sounded good to me and Leif’s snicker said he approved even though he was playing dumb still. “I don’t know what it could be then.”

Pain in the ass.

But since it seemed like he was still in the romance mood, I gave his neck another kiss and started swaying us to the rhythm again. It was all I could do, but he seemed to approve, so I wasn’t worried about looking stupid yet. “We’ll just take our time and figure it out then.”

Smooth.

Yeah.

I finished it off by pressing closer against him so his cock was dancing with mine, and I even got a groan from him as he got harder. “We’re not in any rush.”

Making love was a slow kind of thing, so we had all night.

Dinner, dancing and candles, slow lovemaking…yes, that was the perfect romantic night for Leif.

Kissing along his neck, I kept the plan in the front of my mind as the music shifted to something with just a bit more base. It was still perfect for swaying with Leif, but it shifted the mood from soft to something sexier.

We’d gone from the point in the movie where everything had been calm to the battle was building. It was one of my favorite parts and in real life the anticipation was just as good. But now I was the one in charge of building the tension.
