Carefully enunciating it like only a drunk person could, Ender aimed his thoughtful look at his food. “I think I’m full? Do you think I’m full?”

“Yes, because I want your fries.” And between his drink and his burger there was no way he was still hungry.

“I’m glad we agree on that.” Sighing as he pushed his plate closer to me, he smiled with relief as I picked up another fry. “Having a Dom is very handy.”

For eating leftover food or for making decisions?

Before I could ask, he finished off his drink and smiled distractedly. “Dates with you are just as much fun as regular nights out.”

Had that been a surprise?

Had that been something he’d been worried about?

“I’m glad.” Deciding that we weren’t at the point where even a casual interrogation would work, I did my best not to focus on what he might’ve been obsessing about. “I like spending time with you. I always have.”

Nodding as he gave his empty glass a longing glance, he didn’t seem to realize what was coming out of his mouth. “I do too and now I don’t have to worry about getting caught looking at your ass or trying to hold your hand.”

Refusing to get frustrated about what I’d missed before, I reached out and took his hand. “I’m glad I get to hold your hand and anything else I want to now.”

That got a dirty giggle out of Ender. “Because I belong to you.”

“And that means you get to look at my ass whenever you want to.” I thought I was being cute but he shook his head and looked confusingly serious.

“No, I can’t.” He thought that made perfect sense but I had no idea what he was talking about.

“Why?” Ender logic was amazing but nothing could hold a candle to drunk Ender logic, so I wasn’t worried yet.

Ender frowned and gave me a disbelieving look like the answer was obvious. “Because when we’re naked you’re always behind me.”

Okay. He had a point.

“Do you want to spend more time washing me when we’re in the shower so you can see my ass?” He’d never talked about wanting to top me, so it seemed like the easiest way to give him what he wanted. “Or you could give me a massage and pretend you weren’t doing that just to see my ass.”

His romantic sigh made me smile. “You’re really smart.”

And that drink had definitely been stronger than I thought because Ender’s romance meter was broken.

“Thank you.” Giving his hand a squeeze, I decided it was time to shift gears on our date. “How about we go home and cuddle and find something that’s exploding to watch?”

His eyes got wide, but before I could take that as a yes, he shook his head. “No, I have a better idea. It’s going to be…you’ll just…I’m really smart too.”

And really hard to follow.

But who needed logic and a clear path when they had an adorable pup. “Yeah, you are.”

****

“Uh, no.” Ender’s eyes got wide. “Sobriety would be a problem, but I don’t think we have to worry about that yet.”

Okay, so we weren’t going to wait until he sobered up a bit more to do whatever he had planned.

“No sex unless you’re sober.” We hadn’t talked about intimacy while intoxicated and this wasn’t the time to negotiate it.

Ender’s snort had me trying not to laugh. “First of all, I did not agree with that limit, and second, this will not require anyone taking their clothes off.”

Were we going to have sex with our clothes on?

The way he was bouncing between confident and squirming said sex to me, but his words were making me doubt that assumption.

“Okay. We can work on the limits later.” When he was sober.

Shaking his head, Ender wandered deeper into the loft, looking thoughtful and distracted at the same time as he went around seemingly turning on and off lights at random. “It’ll be perfect. I’m just drunk enough to be a genius.”

Well, at least he didn’t think he was sober?

“Chocolate is amazing.” Still mumbling to himself, he went around the living room shifting nicknacks at random and frowning at some of them. “Chocolate and fire don’t mix.”

Huh?

Unsure if we were talking about s’mores or chocolatey booze and flames, I tried not to hover or find anything new to worry about.

“I trust Leif. He’s a good Master and partner.”

That didn’t make me feel any less worried, but I thought it was cute that Master came before partner in his curious mind.

“Yes. I can do it.” Back to nodding to himself, Ender finally stopped in the middle of the living room and turned to me. “You need to light the candles because I am not sober enough to play with fire.”

Damn right.

“I think that’s a very good decision.” Grabbing a lighter out of the junk drawer in the kitchen, I headed to the living room to follow the direction of my adorable pup. “You also know that you have to be careful around the candles, right?”
