She sighed. “You’re not helping her case by saying things like that. Are you trying to make me jealous?”

“I want her safe. Untouched,” I repeated.

There was muffled arguing.

“I’ll keep her safe,” the man said over the line. “Gina won’t touch her.”

“NO ONE touches her,” I corrected him.

“No one,” he agreed.

“Let me talk to her.” I needed to hear her voice.

I heard the guy mutter a curse.

“Levi?” The tremble in her voice made my fucking knees buckle.

“Hey, sweetheart. I’m coming to get you. Have they hurt you?”

“No,” she replied softly.

“Okay, I swear I will be there soon. Do you feel okay?” I closed my eyes tightly as I asked it. Fucking hell, what would this kind of trauma do to her heart?

“I feel fine,” she assured me.

“Good. You’re doing good. Trust me and don’t get upset.”

“Be safe.” The worry in her tone was killing me.

“I’ll be fine. It’s the fuckers who have you that need to be worried.”

She stayed silent.

“Give the asshole the phone back.”

“Which one?” Her question was so sincere that I would have laughed if I wasn’t so damn livid that someone had her.

“The man.”

“AJ?”

She had said his name on purpose. Good girl. It was the bastard Saxon had been worried about. Next fucking time he had a bad feeling about something, I was taking it seriously.

“Yes.”

The man’s voice came over the phone again.

“Call back in five minutes,” I told him, then ended the call.

“Gina has Aspen?” Huck asked for confirmation.

I started for the underground. “She wants freedom from Blaise’s threat, and she wants time alone with me.”

“She thinks you won’t kill her,” Huck said, falling in step behind me.

“She’s wrong.”

I hurried down the stairs, then down the tunnel to the room the others were in with the Vagos shit. Huck was right behind me. Blaise was wiping blood from his knife when I walked in. He lifted his gaze to us and frowned.

“Where’s Sax?” he asked.

I shook my head. “Not here yet. Gina had a man named AJ take Aspen from the hospital. She has her and won’t give me her location unless you tell her over the phone that she is free to move back to town and doesn’t have to hide from sight.”

“Oh, damn,” Gage drawled.

Blaise scowled. “Fucking bitch,” he snarled, and then he shot Huck a scowl. “See, you should have fucking killed her.”

“Maddy didn’t want her killed,” Huck reminded him.

Blaise waved his knife at me. “Because she felt bad for her. Gina was in love with Levi and gave her pity story to Maddy, who is softhearted. But you felt bad for her too.”

“She’s calling back in a few minutes,” I told Blaise, not wanting to rehash this shit about Gina.

“Gina thinks me telling her she has freedom will mean anything when you’re gonna kill her?”

“I don’t think she believes that, and considering that she has Aspen, I am not telling her she’s dead. I want Aspen unharmed.”

Blaise looked pissed. “I don’t like her making fucking demands of me.”

Fuck, I didn’t need his ego involved in this. I just needed him to tell Gina what she needed to hear. I would handle the rest.

“Huck, get Kye here with you. Gage, call Saxon. Get his ass here. Then, you’re going with me and Levi. She wants to demand shit from me, then she gets a reminder on how that plays out.”

I glared at my phone, willing it to ring. I needed to get to Aspen. Make sure her heart was okay. I was calling Andrus and getting him here today. He needed to check her out. I’d been fucking sloppy. I should have stayed with her until I was sure the area was safe. I hadn’t even thought to check for anyone that could be watching her. She was mine to protect, and I’d failed her. Fucking Gina had been able to take her.

I ran my hand through my hair and pulled at it as I let out a roar, unable to keep myself calm any longer.

“Deep breaths,” Blaise told me.

I was trying to take fucking deep breaths, but it was hard when my chest felt like a damn vise was gripping it.

“We got an address,” Gage said loudly as he held the phone to his ear.

“How?” I asked.

He pointed at his phone. “Sax.”

How the fuck did Saxon have an address? I watched as Gage listened to him.

“You sure about her? Her brother took Aspen. You understand that, right? He’s a dead man. Get rid of her and get to the underground.”

Gage ended the call, and he looked at me, then at Blaise. “It seems like Sax has been seeing AJ’s sister. She’s with him right now. He believes her, but he’s naive. I trust him, but I don’t trust the bitch. She tracked her brother’s phone with hers, but that seems awfully nice of her. Too nice.”
