Sess’ely shrugged.

“No one knows, except maybe the Priestess,” she said, nodding at La’ver’na, who was still standing by the cauldron filled with the sweet, pancake-tasting drink. “But every night the Mother gives us new things to eat—the variety is endless and it’s all so good.”

“Well this is our first night but we’re really enjoying it,” Celia said politely.

“We’ve been here for over a week…or maybe it’s a month? I can’t remember, really,” Sess’ely said dreamily. “I only know that I’ve never been so happy and fulfilled.”

“Fulfilled or just filled—with three cocks at once?” Fierce muttered in Celia’s ear and she had to fight to keep a straight face.

“Well, thank you for telling us where the stew comes from,” she said, smiling at Sess’ely. “Er, I guess we’ll see you back at the dormitory.”

“Oh, not before we have the evening story and the Choosing!” the unicorn girl said. “I do hope that I and my worshippers may be chosen for the story! If you get chosen for the story, you’re almost always also chosen to join the Mother Tree on Branch Five.”

“What happens on Branch Five?” Celia asked curiously.

Sess’ely shook her head.

“The details aren’t for us to know but those who are chosen will live as one with the Mother Tree and shine with the Goddess’s light forever! Wouldn’t that be wonderful?”

“It sounds amazing,” Celia said with a straight face. Dios, this girl was really far gone into the cult—if that was what the Sisterhood of Peace was. Celia was reserving judgment, though they did seem to be very into sexual worship of their Goddess.

As if on cue, La’ver’na cleared her throat and called for everyone’s attention.

“My friends—fellow goddesses and worshippers, it is time for tonight’s Choosing,” she announced. “Tonight the Goddess calls for…” She looked around the room, eyeing each group of people and finally pointed at Sess’ely and her three goat men. “You! Goddess Sess’ely, come forward and bring your worshippers with you!”

“Oh my goodness! I can’t believe we were finally chosen!” Sess’ely hopped up at once, her hooves tapping excitedly on the floor and her eyes shining with excitement. She and her worshippers went up to where La’ver’na was standing in front of the large wooden cauldron.

“Good, my child—it’s excellent to see the four of you so eager to act out a scene from one of the Goddess’s adventures as a mortal being,” La’ver’na said, nodding approvingly. “Now then…take your positions and we will begin.”

Sess’ely and her three goat men stood in a line in front of the cauldron and everyone stopped what they were doing and watched as La’ver’na started speaking in a low, hypnotic voice.

“Back in the Beginning Days, the Goddess often took a mortal form and walked amongst us,” she began. “For she wanted to see which of us were worthy to be her worshippers and follow in her ways. And thus she wandered to and fro.”

At this prompt, Sess’ely began walking up and down the room, shading her eyes with her hand as though she was looking for something.

“And so one day the Goddess took mortal form and went looking for those worthy to worship her,” the priestess went on. “She came upon a male and said, ‘Excuse me sir, but I am thirsty. Will you give me water to drink?’”

As La’ver’na spoke, Sess’ely came up to her first worshipper and mimed asking him a question, tilting an invisible cup to her lips and raising her eyebrows.

“But the male had no water,” La’ver’na went on. “He said, ‘I have no water to for you to drink, for we have had a drought in my town. I have nothing to offer you to drink but the seed of my shaft.’”

“Wait—what?” Celia whispered to Hold and Fierce. The three of them exchanged a look and Fierce muttered,

“They’re not really going to—”

But before he got the words out, Sess’ely was kneeling before her first worshipper and sucking his cock.

“The Goddess drank of his seed and her thirst was quenched,” La’ver’na said with a perfectly straight face.

Luckily, they didn’t have to wait for the goat man to actually come. After sucking his long, thick shaft as deeply as she could—(which was surprisingly deep, Celia thought)—he pulled away and they nodded at each other as he helped her to her feet.

“The Goddess went on, but soon she became tired,” La’ver’na went on. “She came to another male and said to him—‘I have traveled far and am weary. Pray, do you have a place for me to sit and rest myself?”

Again, Sess’ely mimed asking her second goat man for a seat.

“But the man said, ‘Forgive me, weary traveler, but we had a cold winter and had to burn all our furniture for fuel. I can only offer you my shaft to sit on.’”

“What?” Fierce muttered so loudly that several people glared at him and someone said,
