Okay.

“Hurry.” I directed my attention back to Ian. “Xander will be here with Ty and Victoria soon.”

“We have time.” Ian waved me away. “I watched Ty and Victoria go off into a dark room, grabbing each other and bumping into the walls.”

“How did you know how to come here?”

“I overheard how Xander wanted to attend his sister’s party. I’ve wandered this area of sewers for many years. I’ve just been afraid to get too close to vampires without any eyes. Your blood gave me my eyes back and my courage.” He stepped closer to me. “I would love to find ways to truly thank you.”

“Telling me this information is good enough.” I inched back. “So, why again are blood mages killed? And your father, you said, he was friends with a tribe? How does that relate to me?”

“Mages believe that when Ressi looked down on planet Dos, she cried in shame at the sight of the vampires, the products of her brutality. She wanted us dead, but couldn’t do it herself, because we were still a part of her.” Ian leaned back on the wall. “So she formed mages with her tears, dirt from the land, and fire from her breath. She gave each of the mages power over an element so they could exterminate the vampires for her. Then, she left. Apparently, when all of the vampires are gone, Ressi will return.”

“So they believe their life’s work is to kill vampires?” I muttered.

“Very smart, little queen. There were centuries of wars between us, way before you or I were born, and I’m a pretty old vampire.”

“How old?”

“Two hundred years old. Then, of course, there was the Great War that my brother incited against other vampire kings and then against the mages.”

“Why would he kill other kings?”

“You’re asking the wrong questions. The question is; why did everyone want to kill blood mages like you?” He grinned. “You do see why mages would want to kill a blood mage, whose blood creates vampires, one that could easily create vampires out of humans?”

“Yes. Why would vampires want to kill me then?”

“Because then the food supply goes away. Vampires grow up so quickly and take forever to die. The last thing we needed is more ways to populate the world with us. And the king that you gave blood to would be more powerful than the others.” He got off the sink and came to me. “I think I’ve satisfied enough questions to receive more blood. Don’t you?”

“But you’re fully healed.”

“Actually, I’m not.” He gazed down at his crotch. “Would you like me to show you the part I want returned?”

“No.” I extended my hand to him. “Here, take the blood.”

“You’re weak there. Let me drink from somewhere else.” Within seconds, he pulled me to him and sank his fangs into my neck.

A cold tingling sensation skittered across my flesh as if I were naked and had jumped into a pool of ice-cold water. Then my body warmed almost immediately. My nipples hardened. My sex clenched. Images of Ian and me rubbing our naked bodies together danced in my head.

What are you doing?

I whimpered.

This is how it feels when an adult king bites you. Ian’s voice caressed me. The things I could do to you would bring you great enjoyment.

I don’t want it.

I dug my fingernails into his neck.

Stop!

He took his fangs away and licked his lips.

I stumbled back.

Groaning, Ian dove his hands into his pants. “My god I never thought I would feel them again.”

I caught my breath. “Them?”

He rubbed himself under his pants’ material. His throat vibrated with a low whine as he targeted me with his hungry eyes. “Come here, little queen.”

“No.”

With his images and fangs gone, my body’s lusty reaction disappeared. I hugged myself, shocked at how easily he could trigger need within me with just one bite.

“Perhaps you need a little help with listening to me.” Lust glazed over his copper eyes.

A red vapor spurt from the pores all over his face and lingered in the air.

What in Ambi’s name just happened?

I jerked back, waved away the tiny fog, and coughed. It felt warm and damp on my skin. “What is this?”

“Nothing.” He blurred to me as I inhaled some of it and swayed back. “Just relax.”

Blinking a few times, I shoved him away. “I don’t want to know.”

“Please. It’s been so long and my cocks ache so much from being newly formed.” He massaged himself under the material of his pants. “They beg for release.”

“No!” I scanned the bathroom for something sharp and wooden, but of course, there wasn’t anything around. My heart banged against my chest. My body shook in terror. “I give you my trust and blood and in turn, you want to rape me?”

Sighing, Ian paused, released me, and moved away. “My plan is not to rape you.”
