“Glad you’re okay,” Zolt said, searching for an opening he could use.

Leo rubbed his hands on the towel faster, even though they were surely clean at this point. “You haven’t… told anyone, right?” he whispered in the end.

“Some secrets are for sale. Others, I would never reveal. I told you I wouldn’t, and you can trust me... Leo,” Zolt said, his fingers tingling with the desire to touch Leo’s warm flesh. But he was pacing himself, watching all the emotions pass through the handsome face.

Leo grabbed his wrist, taking in a sharp inhale. “Jesus Christ. I meant the body,” he leaned in to whisper. “The other thing was… not a thing okay?”

Zolt laughed. “Really? That’s what you’re worried about? I don’t even know what body you’re talking about.”

Leo exhaled from the depths of his chest, but to Zolt’s regret, he stepped back. “Good. Okay. That’s good. And no problems with the Jackals?”

“Don’t change the subject,” Zolt said and crossed the invisible barrier, gripping Leo’s forearm. It twitched under his touch, but when Leo stayed still, gawking at this hand, Zolt moved until the tip of his sneaker nudged Leo’s boot. “I want to see you again. Why don’t you come in for a drink? Tonight.”

Leo once more glanced to the garage entrance. “Don’t you have Grindr for stuff like that or something?”

Taking the bait. Now all Zolt needed to do was reel him in.

“Do I sound like I want just any guy from Grindr?” he asked in a voice low enough to send a visible shiver down that tempting body.

Leo hesitated. Shifted from one foot to the other. Licked his lips. “I think between the alcohol and that being a shitty night for me, something got lost in translation. I’m not interested in men. Like, at all. It’s not a thing I do, okay? Sorry if it felt like I was cock-teasing.”

Zolt’s hand was on Leo’s neck before he could think about placing it there. When Leo swallowed and his Adam’s apple caressed Zolt, all he could do was dive into the herby aura.

“You can’t know that until you try,” he said and kissed the smooth, open lips that tasted faintly of mint.

But instead of giving in oh-so-pliantly like he had last time, Leo jerked away and backed off so fast he kicked over a bucket and spilled its murky contents onto the cement floor.

“Dude! Get the fuck out! This is so not on!” Leo yelled and pointed to the door. “I tried to be cool about it, but I’m done.”

Zolt’s teeth clashed together as he stared back at Leo, his heart working overtime. “That’s how it is, huh?”

“Yes, that’s exactly how it is! I had a really bad night and you—you seduced me, okay? It’s not happening again.”

“Suit yourself. But don’t come to me when you feel like worshipping dick,” Zolt growled, storming off to grab his bike. So many days wasted on fantasizing about this fucker when he could have done something productive. Leo didn’t deserve another entry in Zolt’s notebook of conquests.

He was setting himself up for situations like this one by chasing straight guys in the first place, but they never failed to annoy him anyway. He just had to remind himself that none of this mattered, because what he actually needed in life was cold hard cash.

Cash would get him his dream retirement, any man he wanted, and a life filled with sunbathing and fancy drinks.

He wouldn’t let a stupid rejection faze him when he had other shit to do.

Zolt was in the mood for a fast ride, so he begrudgingly stopped at the MC-owned gas station. The dark clouds in his skull were so dense they blocked out the annoying music playing in the shop, but when three police vehicles rushed past him and parked by the closed gate to the Smokey compound, he took his time watching the scene.

The gas station worker—a relative of the Hellers, no doubt—hurried to the back rooms for reasons Zolt could only imagine, so he ended up leaving the money by the unmanned counter and left by the time the police search was in full swing.

Zolt smirked as he rode off. With this kind of heat burning under the Smokeys, good business would be coming his way.

Chapter 5 - Leo

Leo couldn’t get that kiss out of his head. It had been almost three weeks, and instead of worrying about someone finding Joe’s remains in a junkyard, all he could think about was Zolt’s lips on his, tongue exploring every inch of his mouth, his thigh rubbing against Leo’s unashamedly hard cock, and about what could have happened if the Jackal hadn’t appeared.

Leo had been out of his goddamn mind. He should have bitten the bullet, sold the ring at a steep loss, and been done with it. Now he had no ring, and was allowing Zolt to occupy his mind for every waking hour.
