Seth sighed but didn’t argue. He knew me better by then.

I finished getting ready for work, then walked to the bus stop. It would rain later, for sure. I could feel the wetness teasing the crisp Portland air. It was definitely a night I’d get a car service.

I kept mostly to myself on the ride over. Something about my conversation with Seth had me deep in thought, about my parents, my life, about Dane and whether it had really been a date, if I’d wanted it to be a date, and all this other shit I had no business thinking about.

A few minutes later I got off the bus, approached the Playground, and pasted the standard Jesse smile on my face.

The bar was already busy, like it was every Friday night, the crowd there for the hate-sexual energy Dane and I shared on the bar. I couldn’t help but wonder if it would be different tonight, and if I wanted it to be or not.

My eyes locked on his as I made my way toward the back. He gave me a shy half-smile, then raised his hand and waved cutely. Oh, what this man did to me… A stupid wave from a most-of-the-time grumpy man shouldn’t make me tremble.

I danced a few rounds, then took a break. My first dance with Dane would be next. I put on deodorant again and checked my makeup, a weird, stupid fluttering in my gut. Ugh. I was losing my damn mind.

Straightening my shoulders, I made my way back into the bar. I sauntered toward Dane as the DJ flipped it to our first song. I stepped behind the bar, grabbed the mic, and got close to him. Before I could speak, Dane pulled away, jumped onto the counter, and held his hand out to me. “Aw, such a gentleman. What’s a lady to do?” I teased. Once we were both there, I put a hand on his chest. “Hey, sugar. Did you miss me?”

He leaned in so his mouth was close to the mic. “Huh? What was your name again?” The crowd laughed, and Dane winked, winked at me, something he’d never done during this little game before.

“You usually call me Yes, harder! Fuck, you feel so good. Best I’ve ever had!” The crowd oohed and aahed as Dane just stood there looking at me. “Cat got your tongue?” I teased, then meowed.

Dane hissed, growled, and I was pretty fucking sure that hadn’t been an act. It went straight to my cock as he jerked the mic out of my hand, tossed it to someone—who the fuck knew? He could have thrown it to the moon for all I knew—and pulled me close. His blunt nails dug into my back, and his dick was already hard. Mine was too as Dane thrust against me, whipped me around, then pushed me so I bent forward, my ass in the air and his groin rubbing against me.

Oh, this was good, really fucking good. I hadn’t expected him to take control like this. I looked at the crowd, made a circle with my lips, and mouthed, “Oh,” when really my eyes wanted to roll back in my head and I wanted our clothes to magically disappear and for Dane’s cock to be deep inside me.

He jerked me up again, pressing on my belly, my back against his chest, and a “Fuck” whispered past his lips and into my ear.

It was hot as hell, maybe one of the hottest moments of my life. Dane took control of the dance, bending me to his will, and damned if I didn’t let him, if I didn’t like it. If somehow I didn’t need it to take all the other shit off my mind.

The second the song was over, he jumped down, then lifted me to the floor. “Holy fuck. I’m pretty sure I orgasmed up there.”

He laughed. “If you don’t know, I must have done something wrong.” He looked at me, cocked his head, and I could see him start to shut down, to pull back and not show me this part of himself he tried to hide. Then he walked away.

The second dance was just as good as the first, and by the end of the night, I felt like I’d been fucked all evening.

“Jesus, that was hot as hell. What happened between the two of you?” Sky asked.

“Nothing,” I replied because I still wasn’t sure myself what that had been.

I got changed and went outside, and yep, it was raining. I pulled out my phone to call a ride, when Dane stepped out. I knew it was him without having to look.

“Let me drive you home, Jesse.”

“No, I don’t need you to do that. It’s out of your way.”

“Shut up and let me drive you home.”

“Well, when you say it so nicely.” I winked, and he chuckled. We were safely in the car and driving when I asked, “So, tonight…?”
