She left them to argue amongst themselves, and she went to the back. It was the largest order, with several sacks of clothing being laundered and ironed.

“You know Alpha is going to have your ass,” the girl said.

“You might as well start looking for a new pack.”

“Everyone has a job to do, and you go out and have someone else do it for you.”

Eloise listened to them complaining.

At the sound of a truck rolling up the driveway, she glanced behind her.

“Holy shit, caught in the act. Here he comes now.”

Steven was at the back of the car, grabbing the laundry from her quickly.

She didn’t care and had no interest in wolf politics. This was the job she and her mother were paid to do.

At the sound of the truck door closing, she couldn’t help but glance over to see Beau himself. It was strange, she’d not seen this guy around town at all, and yet, in the past five days, she’d seen him quite a few times.

He looked … good. Even with dirt on his knees and legs. The arms of his flannel shirt were rolled up, and she noticed there was not a single tattoo on his body. She believed that wolves couldn’t get any kind of ink as their bodies healed too fast.

Beau looked good.

“What the fuck is all this?” Beau asked.

She didn’t say anything as his pack filled in the blanks. Steven took the clothing and with one glance at him, she saw he’d gone pale.

Closing the back of the van, she felt all eyes turned toward her.

“We’re pretty good at what we do,” Eloise said.

“And I got a discount,” Steven said.

“You had a job to do and you decided to take it to outsiders.”

Eloise held her hand up in the air. “Can I leave?”

Beau turned his glare toward her, and she hated to admit it, but he looked … hot. There was no way she was interested in this guy. Clearly the full moon, or the water, or the heat, was messing with her head.

“Go inside, now!”

She glanced behind her to see all of them turn on their heels and leave.

“Wow, you have got them pretty well trained,” she said.

He continued to stare at her.

“We’re only doing a job!”

She was not about to be put in the line of fire for dealing with an order, and she wouldn’t allow her mother to take any bullshit either. They worked hard and it wasn’t like the wolves made life easy. They were always dirtying shit up.

“What other jobs do you have?” Beau asked.

This question came as a surprise to her. “Other jobs?”

“Yeah, what other shit do you do?”

“Well, my mom launders and cleans clothes. We have a small haberdashery. She occasionally does seamstress work. What do you need?” Eloise asked.

“Someone to do our grocery shopping.”

This did come as a surprise to her. “Grocery shopping?”

“Yeah, we’re all fucking useless at it, and even though I don’t like that Steven didn’t pull his weight, he is on to something. We’re busy here and none of us have time to deal with food and shit. Can you do that?” he asked.

She licked her lips and then thought about it. It wasn’t a lot, she did love to grocery shop. She always nominated herself to do it.

“I can do that. It’s not on my mom’s job description, but I know she won’t have a problem with it.”

Beau pulled out his wallet and handed her a card with his name on it. “Every Monday, I want groceries delivered. I don’t give a fuck what you get, just make sure we can make meals out of it.”

Eloise took the card. “Do you have any allergies that I should know about?”

“Yeah, I’m allergic to humans.”

This made her laugh as he passed her.

She guessed she now had an extra job to do. Shoving his card into her back pocket, she made her way back to town.

Heading home, she found the house was empty. She didn’t know where her mother was, but she never kept track of her anyway. They lived their own lives. She pulled the card from her back pocket and stared down at the name. Beau Alpha. He wasn’t kidding. His name was literally called Alpha, which she found awesome.

Three Months Later

Beau wasn’t a fool. He knew none of his pack were cooking the delicious food he’d been eating for the past week.

On Monday morning, he sent the whole pack out to the ranch, and then waited as Eloise did her job. She drove into the front of the ranch house, parked, and began to hoist bags of groceries into his kitchen.

She hummed to herself as she did this. Every Monday, when he returned at lunchtime, the scent of lemon was heavy in the air. He loved her smell and it did linger.

Once all the bags were in the kitchen, she removed her jacket, rolled up her sleeves, and got to work putting everything away. He also noticed she put labels on certain foods.
