I look up at him behind me. “This is a good surprise,” I confirm, the smile permanently on my face when it comes to him. He slips his fingers in mine as we walk over to the helicopter. The pilot is there to open the door for us. I get in first as he tells me how to buckle up. He then hands me a headset with a mic in front of it. I put it on as Xavier gets in and buckles in, placing his headset on his ears. “Hello,” I say, and he looks over at me. “I guess you hear me.”

“I do,” he says as the pilot gets in the front.

He puts on his headset. “Testing,” he speaks into his own mic. “Can you hear me?”

“I can,” we both say at the same time.

“Perfect,” he replies, turning on the helicopter. “My name is Micro, and I’ll be your pilot today.” He starts flicking switches on. “We are going to be going over the Strip,” he relays. “And then making our way over the Grand Canyon.”

I squeal in surprise. “Shut up.” I hit his arm. “Oh my.” I look out my window as he pulls up. I can’t help but be amazed by the Strip from the sky. “Look.” I point over to the Bellagio fountains. “The Vegas sign.” I point down to the line of people waiting to take pictures before we leave the Strip.

“Have you ever done this before?” Xavier’s voice comes out, and when I shake my head, his smile fills his face more. The sun comes into the helicopter, making his eyes even brighter. I watch in amazement as we fly toward the mountains. The scenery is the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The pilot takes us toward the Grand Canyon as we fly low until he pulls up again toward a cliff on the side. “You see that?” Xavier points to what looks like a trailer. I strain my eyes to see it more, and now it looks like there is a seating area outside the silver trailer. “That is where we are going to stay,” he says, and I look over at him.

“What?” I say, turning back to see that one side of the silver trailer is filled with windows overlooking the edge of the cliff.

The helicopter lands next to the trailer. The pilot turns off everything, then looks over at us. “I’ll open the door,” he says to us, taking off his headset and then opening his door. I take off my headset, putting it down in front of me as I unbuckle my seat belt. The door opens, and then Micro holds out his hand for me. I grab his hand. “Watch the step,” he tells me of the step under the helicopter. I step onto the dirt landing, turning and watching Xavier step down. “Here are the keys.” He hands Xavier the keys. “I’ll wait until you are in the trailer before I take off.” He smiles at us. “Call us when you are ready.” He nods over at Xavier, who just nods back at him.

“Shall we?” He slips his hand in mine as we walk down the dirt path toward the silver trailer.

“This is insane,” I say as I step up two wooden steps to what can only be a porch. A sitting area right in front of the door with four poles holding up an awning. Two double couches face each other with a round, brown glass table in the middle of them. Off to the other side are two wooden chairs with plush cushions facing the edge of the cliff. The sun and heat off in the distance feel like we are on top of a cloud. It’s so magical even if I wanted to snap a picture of it, I don’t think it would do it justice. It’s the most romantic place I’ve ever seen, and all I can see in my head is the two of us sitting out here with me in his arms.

“Let’s go inside, and then we can sit outside,” he suggests, and I can’t say anything because the words are stuck in my throat. He puts the key inside the glass door, turning it and opening it.

He steps in first, and I follow him. “This is our home for the night.” He steps out of the way, and I see a long counter against the wall facing us, with a set of stainless-steel drawers. A wooden counter with a sink and stove right next to each other. A bookcase at the end of the counter separates the four-poster king-size bed. Big plush pillows are on the bed with two long body pillows on each side. The back of the bed has a big window with potted plants in front of the ledge. I hear the door close at the same time the helicopter starts. We walk over to the glass door, and I wrap my arms around his waist. His arms come out to circle around me as we watch the helicopter fly away from us.
