“Coffee, burger, and fries,” he said.

“Ugh, you do know she’s vegan, right?” the woman asked.

Harlow glared at the woman. “He’s aware.”

The woman gave a chuckle and even placed a hand on Hunter’s shoulder. Why was she even touching him?

Harlow went back to her plate of fries and tried to ignore the man opposite her. It didn’t last long.

“Where’re your besties?” she asked.

“My besties?”

She forced herself to look up to find him staring at her. Shoving a large forkful of fries into her mouth, she chewed before answering. “You never go anywhere without someone. Your besties. Your club. Your gang?”

Hunter chuckled. “They’re busy.”

“Ah, right, of course.”

Again, another chuckle, which pissed her off. She wanted to ask him what he found so funny, but she didn’t really want to know. She didn’t want to be a laughingstock or the butt of the joke. Been there, done that.

“You’re a jealous little thing, aren’t you?” he asked.

Harlow looked at him. “Jealous, of who?”

“Of that woman.”

“I’m not jealous.”

“No? It didn’t bother you, her flirting with me?”

Harlow ate some more of her fries but her appetite was starting to wane. “I’m guessing you’re used to woman flirting with you.”

He nodded. “That is true.”

“Good for you.”

The waitress came back in record time, and Harlow caught sight of the napkin with the phone number. So predictable. Being around Hunter was like being around Big Dick. She had lunch with her brother with women throwing themselves at him. It was disgusting as she was pretty sure he took one of the women up on the offer and had sex with her during lunch. It didn’t last long, and Harlow had never gone to the bathroom in that café again.

She should be used to women and how they react but with Hunter, it was different. She didn’t want to be jealous and didn’t know if that was how she felt, or maybe she felt envious.

Some women knew what they were doing, and she didn’t have a clue. There had always been something about Hunter that made her feel so many different things.

She needed to remember Raven’s warning to her, that to Hunter, it’s club. She is Big Dick’s little sister, and that would cause a whole host of problems, ones she wasn’t interested in dealing with.

Hunter had been with a lot of women in his time. No one was off limits to him. He was used to women falling all over themselves to get to him and he accepted that. In fact, there were times he relished it. Before Ava came along, he and Smokey would share a woman.

There was no way Smokey would share Ava and as he looked at Harlow, he couldn’t help but wonder if he’d share her, if he wanted any of his club brothers to enjoy a piece of that pie.

Running a hand down his face, he spotted the woman’s number on the napkin she’d very obviously thrust beneath his plate. Any other time, she’d have been an easy fuck. Someone he could use for a quick release and then not think about ever again. For the first time in his life, he wasn’t interested.

He grabbed the napkin and pressed it against her chest. “Not interested.” He didn’t even look at her for a response. What was the point? He didn’t care if she was crying or sobbing.

“Wow,” Harlow said. “Why would you do that?”

“I don’t want to sink my dick inside her.”

“Anyone ever tell you that you’re nasty?” Harlow asked.

“Anyone ever tell you that you don’t know when to shut the fuck up?” he countered.

Harlow smiled at him, then winked. “All the time.”

“And do you pay attention to the request?”

She snorted. “You tell me.”

He already knew the answer.

Hunter knew he shouldn’t be pursuing Harlow. He shouldn’t have come here to talk to her. She was currently a dangerous woman to be around because of one little factor—he couldn’t get her out of his fucking mind. He’d never experienced this before.

Women were easy to use and forget. He didn’t have to think about them, nor feel about them. They were a waste of space other than to enjoy a good fuck. So far, he’d watched two of his club brothers fall—Ugly Beast and Smokey. He saw the way they were with their women, and Hunter knew he wasn’t like them. Harlow was just an itch he needed to scratch. Nothing more, nothing less.

The only problem was … Big Dick.

She wasn’t some random woman for him to enjoy. She was one of the club’s little sisters. In a way, she was a rare commodity in their world and a protected species. He’d already been warned by Smokey over Christmas not to touch her. He hadn’t wanted to. But then he found himself drawn to her, which terrified him.

Even now, he’d watched her walk out of the bakery and head over to the diner. She hadn’t noticed him watching, but he’d been drawn to her in ways he knew he shouldn’t. There was no reason for him to be in town. He wasn’t running any errands. There was nothing for him to do. Yet, he’d ridden into town with absolutely no intention at all.
