CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Killian

Should I have said it? No.

Should he have punched me? Absolutely.

Will my nose ever stop bleeding? Jury’s still out on that one. “Do I need to wear a tampon in each nostril?”

“Yes.” Everyone says in unison after a wedding guest caught the entire thing on camera, so much for keeping a low profile, Dustin didn’t help when he thought Scarlett’s scream was the sound of the cougar coming back. He jumped onto Adrian’s back while I crashed to the ground.

Dirt went everywhere along with blood, and Dustin screamed, “Cougar!”

Which, I’m going to now assume they probably thought we were talking about Scarlett, not the actual cougar that was just roaming around the property.

She’s currently giving us all the silent treatment while she changes, and when I joked about helping her unzip her dress, and truly meant I would help her, Adrian started throwing tampons at my face.

Dustin went and sat in the far corner, a very distant look on his face.

All in all, I think the trauma so far at the wedding matches the Jezebel getting married. Should I have said it? No.

Should he have punched me? Absolutely.

Will my nose ever stop bleeding? Jury’s still out on that one. “Seriously though, do I need to wear a tampon in each nostril?”

“Yes.” Everyone says in unison after a wedding guest caught the entire thing on camera, so much for keeping a low profile, Dustin didn’t help when he thought Scarletts scream was the sound of the cougar coming back. He jumped onto Adrian’s back while I crashed to the ground.

Dirt went everywhere along with blood as Dustin screamed. “Cougar!”

Which, I’m going to now assume they probably thought we were talking about Scarlett, not the actual cougar that was just roaming around the property after escaping his gate.

Scarlett’s currently giving us all the silent treatment while she changes and when I joked about helping her unzip her dress, and truly meant I would help her, Adrian started throwing more tampons at my face.

Dustin went and sat in the far corner, a very distant look on his own face, most likely reliving dark cougar like thoughts.

All in all I think the trauma so far at the wedding matches the Jezebel getting married.

Scarlett finally makes her way back into the room. Adrian suddenly stands at attention like the sergeant just walked back in and he needs to pay his respects, meanwhile I’m still sitting there looking like either the best or worst tampon commercial in the world, huh maybe I’ll endorse in the future.

“You…” Scarlett’s in a matching white sweat outfit and has black Birkenstocks on. “…and you!”

Both me and Adrian get the finger point.

Adrian backs away slowly. “What did I do?”

“You exist!” She seethes.

I let out a low whistle.

“Oh please,” She grabs a pillow and throws it at my face, knocking one of the tampons out, hey I’m not bleeding anymore! “You don’t just say things like that out loud! To people! Out loud! At a wedding! Out loud.”

I raise my hand. “Are there going to be more out louds? I think I get the point.”

She grabs another pillow and raises it high.

Adrian whispers next to me, “If you don’t let her talk she’ll just get violent, one time I broke a toe, the memories too painful to recall, but know, it was because I spoke out of turn.”

“Damn,” I mutter.

Scarlett looks between us and throws the pillow to the ground. “Why are all good-looking men so stupid?”

Dustin clears his throat, finally joining the conversation. “I think it stems from their ability to get away with it.”

“He would know,” I say under my breath.

Adrian actually snorts out a laugh next to me. I mean, I’m kidding but I just can’t help it, Dustin literally asks for it every time he opens his mouth.

Dustin points both fingers at me in a I’m watching you motion, then turns his smile to Scarlett. “I’ll just go get you a nice glass of wine so you can relax.”

She smiles back sweetly. “Thank you, Dustin.”

“The pleasure’s all mine.”

“And mine,” I say again, gah I just can’t help it! What the hell is wrong with me.

Adrian groans next to me, then holds up his hands. “Yeah, I’m out, you’re on your own. I do not need to get in the middle of this fight, just nod your head and let her drink her wine. I’ll be in the other room sending a prayer to Heaven for you.”

“That’s nice.” I nod. “Thanks man.”

“Oh, it won’t help your dead soul, but it might just make me feel better that God’s currently watching.” He grins. “Good luck!”

Abandoned by both of them.

I pull out the other tampon from my nose, toss both in the trash and sit back down on the bed. “I’m so—“

“—No.” She shuts me down immediately. Damn it, she’s pretty. “I don’t want to hear that you’re sorry I mean I get that you’re doing a lot for me right now but Adrian’s my friend, Dustin’s basically a stranger, well until now and my entire family now thinks I’m a wet whore currently shacking up with, two, no three men!”
