Our tongues dueled but in the back of my mind was the feel of her thighs as they clasped my hips. Just that feeling alone was enough to make me cum, and I didn’t want to cum yet, because then this feeling would be over. And I never want it to end.

“You don’t have to be nervous around me you know. I’m never going to touch you until you’re much older.” I watched her face for her reaction to my words and was pleased with what I saw.

Her eyes were wide and she bit into her lip nervously before trying to evade my gaze. I kept going as if it was the most natural conversation in the world.

“I’ll hold your hand, I’ll even kiss your cheek, but you can relax for at least another year. Do you want to watch a movie or something?” My change of topic threw her for a second but she was quick to regroup.

“Uh, sure, I guess.” I walked over to the eighty inch screen with the cabinet beneath that if I remember correctly, housed all the movies and music. It’s been a while since Jace dragged us all here, but I have to say, this time was by far the best. Because she was here.

“What kind of movies do you like?”

“It doesn’t matter, you choose something.”

“Cass.” I called out to her without looking at her.

“Yeah?”

“Don’t do that.”

“Do what?”

“Say things like it doesn’t matter. Tell me what you like.” I still didn’t look at her, but could well imagine her reaction to my words. I know her that well.

“I like girly movies, my favorite right now is Beauty and the Beast but it’s childish and…”

“Then that’s what we’ll watch.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, let’s see if we can find it.” I finally looked back over my shoulder at her.

“I have it on my iPad, I bought it.” She ran to get her tablet and I wasn’t sure if she was really that excited about the movie or just in a hurry to get away from me. I hid my smile as I turned away.

She was even more nervous when she came back downstairs. It was the first time we’d been alone so that was understandable I guess. Everyone had gone their separate ways in this labyrinth of twists and turns. I’m never quite sure what to call this place. Not exactly a conventional hotel, it’s nothing as mundane as a villa.

What it is, is a connection of buildings that meet one another with a common living area and about thirty bedroom suites all separated from each other by long outdoor walkways. We were all alone though the others weren’t that far away.

We got settled on the couch after I set up the iPad to play through the TV screen. The movie started but it was obvious she was too tense to pay attention.

She didn’t realize I could see her in the glass across from us. See the way she kept taking peeks at me, or the way she’d get this secret little smile on her face before going back to looking worried.

“Stop biting your lip so hard, you’ll hurt yourself.” I was tempted, sorely tempted to pull it away from her teeth with my fingers, but I’d already made up my mind not to touch her.

“What’s on your mind? You can tell me anything. You won’t be able to relax until you get whatever that is off your chest.” She took her time but eventually got brave enough to voice her worry.

“Why do you like me? Or is it just because everyone else in our group is a couple? If that’s it then you don’t have to…”

“Cassie, how old are you?”

“Fifteen.”

“How old am I?”

“Seventeen.”

“Did you ever wonder why all my friends have girlfriends and I don’t?” I waited for my words to sink in. I saw though, that she still didn’t get it.

I’d wanted to save this conversation for another time. She’s so damn young I never know what’s the right protocol and what would be crossing the line. And now I have the added headache of Jace Saunders being her God brother. No pressure.

I never want to do anything to hurt her, but I don’t want her being confused about where I stand anymore either. So I opened up and jumped right in, hoping I didn’t mess up.

“I’ve always liked you, I always thought you were the cutest thing. I used to watch you in the hallway at school. You were always like this ray of sunshine. Always smiling and happy. The kind of happy that made your eyes shine.” Damn, I can still remember the way I felt the first time I saw that light in her eyes. Swept away!

“But then you changed. I saw the change and it was killing me not to know what was making you so sad.” I still remember that misery too.
