Isa stared down at them in horror. “But who would do that?”
Loki gave her a grim look. “I don’t know. Is there a camera around here?”
“Most likely. After the merger they put them in the building. I could go in and check with security. It was probably some random asshole or something.”
“Probably. I’ll need to call for a tow. And tell Remy to come get us.” He’d driven her here this morning so she didn’t have her car.
“Wait in the foyer, Tink,” he ordered. “It’s warmer in there.”
Oh shoot. She’d forgotten her jacket. Remy wouldn’t be happy if she didn’t have it. Thankfully, she’d remembered to bring it. But she’d hung it up in the staffroom.
“Okay!” She rushed off into the building. She briefly stopped by the security office. She quickly explained the situation and Fred, the guard on duty, said he’d look at the feed. Although she guessed it would be tomorrow. Fred didn’t work quickly and he always closed up and left the building by seven-thirty.
She headed up and into the staffroom, walking over to where she’d hung her jacket on the coat rack.
“I knew you’d be back.”
For fuck’s sake. Didn’t he say he was leaving? Grabbing her jacket, she turned. Her heart raced as she saw Shawn had a glass of something in his hand.
Scotch?
Maybe.
But there was a look in his eyes that she didn’t like. Isa swallowed heavily.
And this is why you should have told Loki and Remy that this guy was more than just a jerk.
That he made you uncomfortable.
“I thought you were going home,” she said bluntly.
He raised his eyebrows and stepped into the room, heading toward her. She backed up until she had nowhere else to go.
Fuck.
She knew better than to let herself get cornered.
Loki was going to kill her.
If he didn’t kill Shawn first.
She needed to talk her way out of this situation. And then first thing Monday morning she was going to talk to HR.
“I decided to stay for a drink. Glad I did. You shouldn’t have run off like that. I didn’t tell you that you could leave.”
“I’ve finished work. Everyone else has gone home.”
Dumb, Isa. Remind him that you’re alone here.
Except for Fred.
And Loki.
She had to get away from Shawn before Loki came looking for her.
“My boyfriend is waiting for me.”
He sneered. “That fucking idiot. What does he have that I don’t?”
“Loki is smart, amazing, and kind. He’s protective. Let me past.”
“No. You’ve been teasing me for weeks now. Those sexy outfits that told me you wanted me. All the time you’ve spent with me. I know you started wearing more clothing because you want me to unwrap you.”
Um, gross.
“Think I just threw up in my mouth,” she muttered.
“What?” he snapped.
Oh shit.
Keep him calm. Go along with him.
“I do not want you. In fact, you disgust me. You treat me like trash and I’ve had enough. Now, get out of my way!”
“Like fuck I will. You are mine! I let you keep your job. I helped you when your battery was dead. You’ve been flirting with me! You’re mine!”
Fuck.
He grabbed her arm as she tried to dart past him, slamming her against the wall.
Panic had her freezing. Then as he grabbed her breast, she was shocked back into thinking.
And she started to fight.
“Get off me, motherfucker!” she screamed, raking her fingernails down his face. “Help! Help me!”
“You fucking bitch,” he screamed, stepping back to cup his cheek as it bled.
He drew his fist back and she knew that it was going to connect.
She closed her eyes.
But a roar of fury filled the room instead.
She opened her eyes just as Loki ran into the room and slammed into Shawn, sending him flying to the floor.
Oh, fuck.
This was bad. She tried to run toward them, but a firm arm caught her around her middle, pulling her back.
She glanced back to find Remy giving her a firm look. “Stay here.”
She nodded, but he wasn’t paying attention to her. He ran toward Loki and pulled him off Shawn. Her boss was lying on the floor, moaning while Loki heaved for breath.
“Let me go!” Loki roared.
“No!” Remy told him. “If you kill him, you’ll be in jail, not him.”
Jail?
Who? What?
“I’m calling the fucking cops. You assaulted me.”
She glanced down at Shawn as he spoke. His eye was already swelling.
No.
She wasn’t about to let Loki go to jail for what he did. She moved forward, ignoring Loki as he growled at her and the arm that Remy stretched out to her.
“You won’t,” she said. “Because you tried to sexually assault me.”
“Prove it,” he snarled.
“There’re cameras in this room, dickhead,” she told him.
She knew that because she’d been here when they’d installed them. They were in all the offices and hallways.
Shawn paled as she glanced around for her handbag. Seeing it, she picked it up.
Huh, her hands were shaking.
