“Are you ready?” she asked Vic, as she reached him.
“More than ready, sweetheart.” His voice was a low growl of lust. “You can take off your towel whenever you’re ready as well.”
“Oh…” Torri felt herself blushing again. She had meant was he ready to start the shower. But at least it was clear that he was anticipating seeing her naked. She had been planning to wait and take off the towel once the water was running so she could step right in, but maybe it was better to rip off the bandage now.
Biting her lip and lifting her chin, she let the towel drop to her feet.
“Gods, sweetheart…” Vic’s deep blue eyes roamed up and down her bare body. “You’re so beautiful naked!”
“I’m not exactly, er, thin,” Torri said apologetically.
“I know,” Vic growled hungrily. “You’re an Elite—a female the Goddess has blessed with extra-generous curves. Thank you for letting me see them.”
“Oh, well…” Torri ducked her head, still blushing. She wasn’t exactly clear on what an “Elite” was, but the big Kindred said it like it was a good thing, so she guessed she ought to take it as a compliment.
“Come here—I want to feel you against me.”
Vic drew her into his arms and she came willingly, pressing her bare breasts to his muscular abs rather than his chest, since he was so much taller than her. She could feel his hard manhood (another term from Nana’s “spicy books”) branding her belly, but she didn’t move away. It felt so good to be wrapped in his arms, to feel his warm, bare skin against hers and breathe in his wild, masculine scent.
Vic seemed to feel the same way because he leaned down and whispered in her ear,
“Mmm, I love the way we fit together, sweetheart. You feel so good in my arms.”
“I like it too,” Torri confessed, rubbing her cheek against his chest. “I’m so glad we have at least one more night together.”
“I am too. Let’s make it count—I want to keep this night in my positronic net for always,” he murmured.
Torri couldn’t help smiling. She loved the way he could sound almost robotic one minute and completely human the next. She supposed it was the two halves of his brain working together—the positronic and the organic—as he referred to them, but it certainly made him unique.
“I could stand here holding you all night, but I guess we should get the shower started,” Vic said at last, nuzzling her neck.
“I guess so. Uh, did you figure out how to work it?” Torri asked as they drew apart at last.
“I believe the bronze lever turns the water on and the panel controls the temperature.” Vic pointed to a lever that was well above his head and a flat black panel beside it. “Let’s get in and I’ll see if I can get it adjusted.”
They stepped into the blue glass shower stall together and Vic slid the blue glass door shut before reaching up for the lever. He twisted it down and a sudden torrential flood of water started pouring down on their heads.
“Oh!” Torri gasped. “Oh, no!”
First of all, it was freezing cold and secondly there was so much water! It was like standing under an arctic waterfall.
“Sorry!” Vic was already working with the black temperature panel, adjusting the temperature until it was pleasantly hot, but the amount of water falling down on their heads was still too much.
“I feel like I’m drowning!” Torri shouted to be heard above the flood. “Is there a way to make the water flow lighter?”
“Let me try.” He fiddled with the lever again and eased the torrential flow. Finally they had a nice, warm shower going—though it still wasn’t like any shower Torri had been in before. Besides the fact that the shower stall was so big, there was also no shower head—the water just rained straight down from the ceiling high above them.
“There.” Vic turned to her, his eyebrows lifted. “Does that work for you, sweetheart?”
“Yes, thank you.” Torri smiled at him and pushed her wet hair out of her face. “It’s really nice, actually, now that I don’t feel like I have to build an ark and find two of every animal to come with me on it!”
“I’m sorry—I don’t understand that reference.” Vic looked so confused that Torri had to laugh.
“Never mind. I meant it’s very nice now that I don’t feel like we’re in the middle of a flood.” She looked around. “Do you think they have some soap anywhere?”
“Let’s see.” They looked around the large shower stall and then Vic pointed to a slit in the blue glass on the far side of the shower. “There—I believe that’s a dispenser.”
He led Torri over to it and lifted his arm to place his hand just under the slit—which was about four feet above Torri’s head. The slit made a weird slurping sound and when he brought his hand down, Torri saw it was overflowing with dark blue, opalescent liquid.
