“No, I’d like to change as well.”

He stands from the bed and stretches his long arms over his head. As he stretches his long body, his suit pants change to black silky pants and the dress shirt becomes an open black matching shirt. I turn away as the bulge in the front of the pants shows.

He climbs back onto the bed and stops to kiss my cheek. “Your turn.”

“Good morning,” Dinesh sings as he and Bach appear with trays of breakfast. “We thought the two of you might be famished.”

“Oh, I was just about to summon breakfast,” I say, ignoring his words.

I change my clothes quickly and take the floating tray of food. I look anywhere but at Argon. I can’t help but wonder if he’s being kind to me so he can return home to his people. That has to be it.

“We have ripe fruit like this back home. The best of the best. I’ve never known better.”

“Ms. Posh grows the fruit with her magic. It’s delicious.”

“Where are you from, Blaise? I get that this is not your original home.”

I stare down at my food. My emotions begin to swirl all over the place. I’m angry because I can’t remember where I’m from and frustrated because I want to so badly.

“I think you should go. I have things to do today.”

“What happened to breakfast in bed? What’s wrong?”

“Go,” I roar, turning over the trays in front of us.

Argon scowls as he stands and starts out of the room. I immediately feel bad. Using my magic, I clean up.

Looking after Argon, I bow my head. “I’m sorry,” I whisper after him.

I storm into my room. Rage consumes me. We were taking so many steps forward. I don’t know what happened. I feel more rage with myself than anything.

I know something is wrong. Blaise can’t be my mate. It’s this place. If we were a match, our spirits would have linked. My link has opened, but so much more hasn’t happened.

“If I’m doomed to be in this place, I need to close this link,” I growl to myself.

“Excuse me.”

I turn to find Hiasha flying by the door. She peers back at me shyly. I calm my anger as I clench my fists at my sides.

“Hello, Hiasha. How can I help you?”

“I’m the youngest here. The others… they want me to stay out of things, but I think you should know. Lady Blaise has a temper, but she means well. She’s trying.

“I guess I’m asking for you to try with her. There’s a lot on her shoulders. We mean the world to her and…”

“And?”

“I’m sorry, I’ve said too much. If you need anything… have a good day, sir.”

I clench my fists tighter as she takes off. There’s something going on here, something more that no one will talk about.

“Something that’s probably none of my business.”

Chapter 17

Magic Movies

Argon

It’s been days since I’ve spent time with Blaise. She hasn’t left her room. I can hear her playing her cello. The music is so melancholy.

I feel her sorrow deep down in my soul. I’ve thought of going to her, but my pride won’t allow it. As long as I don’t feel her in pain, I’m choosing to keep my distance.

However, I’ll admit there is a part of me that misses the time we used to spend together. I’ve spent most of my time meditating to keep my magic from fading completely.

Like now, I sit on the floor in the middle of my room with my legs crossed. As I’m in deep meditation, my magic swirls around me with a blue light. It’s not its strongest, but it still glows brightly.

“Impressive. I was sure you’d be powerless by now. Perhaps I’ve underestimated you.”

“Hello, Dinesh. Can I help you with something?”

“Yes, you can. Stop being a dick and spend some time with Blaise before I set your pants on fire. I can still wield my flames I’ll have you know.”

I sigh and allow my magic to return to its resting state. The blue light falls away like ropes dropping to the floor. I turn to glare at Dinesh.

“She’s the one who doesn’t want to spend time with me,” I bite out.

“That’s not true. Gods, are you blind? She’s playing the way she is because she misses your company. So she got a little testy. Don’t punish her for it.”

“I’m not punishing her for anything. I’m trying to give her space.”

“Newsflash, she doesn’t want space. She doesn’t have time for space. Come on. Bach and I have set up a little rendezvous,” he says and wiggles his brows.

I roll my eyes. I’m sure these little guys are up to something. However, my link pulses, causing me to miss Blaise. What could it hurt?

I stand and roll my neck. “Lead the way.”

“Oh, no. You will not go dressed like that. Change your clothes, I’ll wait,” he says and folds his arms over his chest.
