“No, no. The opposite, actually. Hayden’s been helping Doc with the numbers at the shop.”

“It’s nothing,” I say.

“No, it wasn’t nothing. You helped him a ton, and he says you’re going to save him thousands of dollars just from what you did in two days.”

“That’s impressive,” Sebastian says. “I have a friend who needs some good people for his company. I don’t know if you’d be interested in something like that.”

“He’d be very interested,” Cody answers on my behalf.

“I mean, I’d be interested in talking to him. I don’t have a degree or anything like that.”

He shrugs. “Who needs a degree when we have the gay mafia?” he says with a wink.

I feel a hand behind me, and I turn to see a drag queen walking up the step, shaking in her heels.

“ ’Scuse me, cutie,” she says. “ ’Bastian, can I talk to you about possibly coming to this event for me next Thursday?”

“Sure, Clementine,” he says. “Give me one second.” He looks back to us. “Nice seeing you guys. Hit me up, Hayden. You have my info.”

“I definitely will,” I say.

As Clementine chats Sebastian up, Cody turns to me and says, “I think you owe me a dance.”

We head back to the dance floor.

Travis has already arrived and dances with Gary while Derek has found himself two guys to wedge himself between. I wonder if my stories about Finn have inspired him to get a little more daring with his sexual escapades.

He turns to me and says, “Don’t worry. There’s still room.” He glances between the two guys and looks back to me, shaking his head quickly. “No, there’s really not,” he whispers.

“You are too much,” Cody says to him.

“I’m itty-bitty,” Derek says. “The real question is if you’re too much for me.”

Cody laughs. He’s warming up to Derek. I’m sure he’s the one who seems kind of out of place next to me and Gary, but he’s got a bigger heart than he lets on. For whatever reason, he likes to mask everything with his sense of humor, and I get that.

“I like your friends,” he tells me as he starts bopping to the music. “What do you think of Sebastian?”

“He’s cool,” I say. “And he kind of blew my mind when we met.”

“Why is that?”

I tell him the story about what happened at the urinals at work.

“That sounds a lot like Sebastian. It was huge, right?”

“Yes. And his load was pretty impressive, too.”

“He’s very versatile,” Cody adds with a wink.

“I like the sound of that.”

“It’s a lot of fun. A five-star recommendation, for sure.”

“I guess I’ll have to give it a try then.”

“Definitely.” But as he says that, his expression shifts to something more serious, less playful.

He’s not as excited about it as he seemed when he first pitched the idea, and I’m not sure why.

Maybe I’m just imagining it.

“There’s not something wrong with him, is there?” I ask.

“Oh, no, no. Nothing like that. Sorry. I was thinking about this design I’m trying to get right for my client next week.”

“Got it.”

He smirks, and he’s adorable as ever.

I need to text Sebastian and set something up. I like Cody, and he’s such a fun fuck that I know if I don’t start messing around with other guys, I’m liable to get lazy and try to rely on him for sex. And considering all the options he has, I doubt he wants me to become one of those guys who keeps blowing up his phone, expecting him to fulfill all their sexual desires.

Besides, hot and amazing as the sex is, I really enjoy the time we get to spend together. I remember when Cody told me that money was easier to come by than good people. The same is true about sex.

Although, that isn’t to say I’d totally rule out fucking around with him again, either.

“What are you doing for Thanksgiving?” Hayden asks me as we sit on the couch. He’s looking through a book on accounting, and I’m sketching out an adventure for Math Man. It’s sort of ridiculous that I’m obsessed with drawing comics about a mathematician in tights.

I shrug at his question. “Probably hanging with Doc. We usually find a restaurant that’s open, eat shitty food and then pay double what we should have to for a tip because it sucks to be at a restaurant cooking and serving food on Thanksgiving.”

“Really?” Hayden asks, his voice going up an octave, as though he really is surprised.

“Yeah.” I turn to look at him. “I didn’t say that just because you’re a waiter. I actually forgot you’re a waiter. I’m not that hard up to get into your pants.” I wink at him.

His eyes go wide, this sort of soft expression to them.

“You keep looking at me like that, and I’m going to have to start drawing heart bubbles around Math Man’s head.”
