“I’m buying dinner to pay you back for picking me up at the airport and everything else you’ve done while I’ve been away.”

I owe my best friend big time. The entire time I’ve been touring with the band, she’s been taking care of my apartment and watering my plants every few days.

With Maeve’s help, I’m able to pack up my apartment and arrange for the movers to transport everything to Silver Spoon Falls in just two days.

Since I don’t have anything happening in the next two weeks, I decide to fly out and surprise Owen in Peach Springs. “Are you sure you won’t come with me?” I ask Maeve as she drives me to the airport.

“To your boyfriend’s parents’ memorial?” She shudders. “I don’t think so.”

Over the last two days, I’ve been working on convincing her to come check out Silver Spoon Falls, and I’m pretty sure I’m making progress. “Promise you’ll come visit me in Silver Spoon Falls when I get back from the last leg of the tour.”

Soon after the memorial, I have to catch up with the rest of the band members so we can prepare for the last leg of the tour.

“I promise.” Maeve pulls up in the passenger drop-off lane and turns to me. “I’m hoping to find myself a billionaire or two.”

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

owen

I’ve only been in Peach Springs for a few days, and I’m already itching to get my ass back to Silver Spoon Falls and my girl. It’s been too goddamn long since I held her in my arms, and I’m missing her like crazy.

She’s getting all her belongings packed and organized for the movers back in LA, and then she’s supposed to fly out a day or two before the memorial. I can’t fucking wait for her to get here.

Yesterday, I got together with all my brothers to install a bench to honor our parents in the park we’re donating to the town in their honor.

The day started out normal and turned into anything but when my youngest brother admitted to us he’d just found out he has a three-month-old daughter named Peach.

Finding out I have a niece flipped a switch in my chest, and I suddenly realized I want to have tons of children with my spitfire. Actually, I’m a little old to get started, so I’ll settle for one or two. God, I fucking hope they look just like Radley.

While my concentration should be on preparing for the memorial, I’m too busy making plans to tie my little spitfire to me for life.

The first free moment I get, I rush over to old man Turner’s jewelry shop and pick out the biggest diamond I can find. “I need to keep this between us,” I tell him as I pull out my credit card to pay.

“Of course.” He makes the motion of zipping his lips. “My shop is just like Las Vegas. What happens inside these four walls stays inside these four walls. I’ll have the ring ready for you to pick up tomorrow morning.”

“Thanks.” As I put my card away, my phone buzzes in my pocket, letting me know I have a message from Radley.

Spitfire

How are things going there?

Me

Okay. I miss you like crazy.

Spitfire

I miss you, too. What are you up to today?

Me

Just getting last-minute things done before the memorial. How are things going with you? Have you gotten the moving truck all packed up?

Spitfire

I did and they’re about to head out. They think they’ll be in Silver Spoon Falls by next Friday.

Me

Good. I can’t wait to have you with me forever. Love you.

Spitfire

I love you, too.

Fucking hell. Seeing her declaration causes my heart to race, and I almost fist-bump the air at the news that my spitfire’s belongings are on their way to Silver Spoon Falls.

I’m on my way back to the farm when I get a call from Justice. “Hello,” I answer, wondering why he’s calling me.

On my first night back in town, I sat my little brother down so we could have a long goddamn talk about my relationship with Radley.

The conversation seemed to improve his attitude slightly, but he’s still holding a grudge over me “stealing his drummer,” which is total bullshit since Radley had already decided to leave the group before we even met.

“When are you coming back to the farm?”

“I’m on my way back now. I should be there in a few minutes,” I tell him, wondering why the fuck he’s suddenly so worried about my whereabouts. “Just enough time for you to get rid of the hookers and put away the Coke.” It’s what I used to tell the boys growing up when I wanted to warn them to clean their shit up before I got home.

“Nah, I don’t hide things from you anymore. I’m too old for that shit,” he growls and hangs up. I know the fucker is pissed, but fucking hell. I can see it’s going to take some work to repair my relationship with him, but at least he’s talking to me.
