“Of course you are,” I laugh. “They were just about to share with everyone about the night I fooled around with the two sexiest guys this school has ever seen. I mean, Slade Mother Fucking Cruz and Damian Freakin’ Wilder. Am I right?” I question, pointing them out and getting a cheer from every female in the room.

“So, you admit it?” Rachel grins. “You had a threesome with Slade and Damian?”

“Of course, I fucking did,” I laugh. “What red-blooded woman in my position wouldn’t? I’m not too fucking pussy to own it. I did it and it was incredible, and given the chance,” I say with a grin, narrowing my eyes at her and letting her know that there’s no way in hell that she’ll win this. “I’d do it again.”

Hearing the crowd starting to turn on her to back me, she looks down at me as though I’m trash, a look that I’ve seen from girls like her far too often. In fact, I’ve seen it so much that it doesn’t affect me anymore. I know my self-worth. It’s not my problem that they can’t see theirs.

“You’re a whore,” Rachel says. “Everyone here knows it.”

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize it was a crime to enjoy sex,” I say. “But while we’re on the topic. Aren’t you the one who likes sending Damian those naughty little videos, you dirty little vixen? I especially like the one you sent him the other day. Remind me what you were doing? Rubbing one out on camera and screaming his name? Begging for him back? Yeah, that’s right.”

Rachel’s eyes bug out of her head but I’m not quite done talking. “You know, it’s absolutely fine for you to think I’m a whore because the only thing that matters is what I think of myself and to be honest, I think I’m the luckiest girl having the chance to have been in that position with those two boys. Both of them touching me, loving me, doing all sorts of bad things to me-”

Randwell clears his throat and I grin as I look up at him, trying to move this along, knowing that the boys need to be back on the court. “As far as I’m concerned, Rachel here was just trying to remind everyone why they should envy me because she knows that no matter what she does, no matter how hard she tries, she’ll never have what I’ve got. She’ll never get to experience that and she’ll never be me.”

Nessa’s booming laughter cuts across the court. “You’re my fucking queen, Skylah Daniels.”

A whole chorus of cheers follows her declaration and I watch as Rachel’s jaw clenches, realizing that she’s finally lost. “This isn’t over,” she warns me despite knowing that it is.

“Oh, yes it is,” Randwell scolds. “You stood up here and orchestrated a personal attack on one of my students, trying to humiliate her for her sexual preferences which are, quite frankly, none of your goddamn business. You brought other students into your petty war and allowed this to play out in front of another school’s team. When you wear our school colors, you do it with pride and respect. You may not have humiliated Skylah as you had hoped, but you sure as hell humiliated me and my school.”

“I…I…” Rachel starts shaking her head, realizing what kind of trouble she’s about to get into as Slade steps in beside me, taking my waist and despite me being mad at him right now, I can’t find it within me to tell him to back off.

“I don’t want to hear your excuses,” Randwell says. “Your time as captain is over and you can forget about the cheer team altogether. Your days of humiliating Aston Creek High are over.”

With that, Randwell turns around to Slade’s coach. “Right, now that the fire is out and we’ve determined that Skylah Daniels cannot be torn down by petty attempts of humiliation, can we get on with the game? I promised my wife dinner after this and if I miss our reservation again, I’ll never hear the end of it.”

Coach steps forward, waving his team on. “I thought you’d never ask.”

Chapter 19

I sit on my kitchen counter beside Nessa as the house fills with bodies. I can’t say that I ever imagined Shay to be the kind to let us have a party here but when you weigh the options of me either going out to celebrate with the boys or staying home and being safe, there really isn’t another option.

Shay knew it wasn’t going to be that simple though and offered for us to have a few people over here. I’m not quite sure she meant the whole team and their friends but still, it’s better than me being out and putting myself at risk. The cop sitting out front in the patrol car wasn’t too thrilled about it either, but we’re keeping it tame so there’s not really a lot he can do about it.
