My heart sped up. “So, you had to buckle me in?”

He brushed my hair back off my shoulder as he stared at my neck. “I’ve always been dark. Needed things that others don’t. It can get warped, distorted.” He leaned down to brush his nose and lips along the crook of my neck. “I’ve found you trigger a beast inside of me, demanding to own you.” His teeth pulled at my earlobe. “Be the only thing you need.”

I sucked in a breath as he licked at the skin beneath my ear.

“It wants to tie you to my bed and keep you all to himself.”

A small whimper escaped me, and his eyes locked on mine. They weren’t hazel anymore. They were black.

“Does that frighten you?” he asked quietly.

“No,” I answered honestly.

“It should.” He moved away then and stood up, closing the door.

I gasped, placing a hand on my chest. “Good Lord,” I whispered.

When he climbed into the driver’s seat, he smiled at me. “Are you hungry?”

I wasn’t sure if he was crazy or not, but I did fear one thing. I was afraid I might be falling in love with him.

Twenty-Eight

Levi

Too many fucking cars. I gripped the steering wheel tightly, annoyed. After being out most of the day with Aspen and having to see other men look at her, I needed to get her in my room. The amount of people at the house only told me that wasn’t going to fucking happen anytime soon.

“Who’s all here?” Aspen asked as we pulled into the garage.

“Looks like everyone.” The annoyance in my voice was clear.

“Do you not like everyone?”

I cut off the engine and looked at her. “I just wasn’t expecting a crowd.”

“Oh,” she replied, looking confused.

I opened my door and got out, then made my way over to her side just as she was stepping out. Caging her in, I grabbed her chin.

“Did you not hear me earlier?” I growled.

She batted her lashes slowly as she stared up at me. There was the trace of fear she had claimed she didn’t have. I closed in on her.

“I get you out of the car, Aspen. Me.” Leaning down, I rubbed the side of my face against hers. “Tell me you understand.”

I felt her shiver. “I understand.”

“Good girl.” Stepping back, I took her hand in mine and pulled her from against the car, then closed the door before walking toward the entrance to the house.

I was struggling. This was new to me. Whatever fucking thing she’d awoken in me wasn’t doing great with taking her in public. I knew keeping her here, away from the world, wasn’t fair or healthy. But right now, I was starting to question my mental health.

Once we were inside the house, I kept her hand in mine as we headed to the noise coming from the backyard. During breakfast, I had heard Trinity mention having a get-together this evening, but I hadn’t been paying attention. My thoughts had been on Aspen and the knowledge that I was going to fuck her tonight.

“It’s a party.” Aspen sounded pleased.

“It appears so.”

I pushed open the glass door leading out to the pool area. The scent of the meat that Huck had on the grill filled the air. Blaise’s son, Cree, was yelling as he ran and jumped into the water, where Trev was waiting on him. Trinity lifted her hand and waved at Aspen. She was surrounded by Maddy, Shiloh, and Gypsi.

Aspen glanced up at me, and as much as I wanted to keep her by my side, there was a hopefulness in her expression. I nodded, and she broke into a smile before leaving me to go join the other females. The only one in a bikini that wasn’t covered up was Gypsi. I hoped it stayed that way. I didn’t want Aspen putting on that damn white bikini.

“You look like someone took your favorite toy,” Gage drawled as he came up beside me.

I ignored his comment. I didn’t even understand the shit going on in my head right now. She was more than my favorite toy. Although what was between her legs was my favorite thing to play with.

Changing the subject, I asked, “Where’s Kye?”

“With Genesis.”

“She visiting her folks?”

“Nope,” Gage replied with a pop to his lips.

I looked over at him. “She moving back?” I asked.

He nodded, raising his eyebrows. “Seems she got in a fight or some shit with the boyfriend. Hell, I don’t know. She called Kye, crying, and he took off running. Weirdest fucking relationship.”

It always had been. Genesis Stoll had grown up next door to Kye. She was his best friend, and he swore that was all they were. Apparently, she hadn’t always been hot. She had bloomed late or some shit. They had a long history, and Kye would drop anything if she needed him.
