“Where are you planning on going?” I asked Trinity.

She walked over with a cup of coffee and sat down beside Huck. “I need some new things.”

She glanced at Huck, and a smug grin touched his face.

“That’s obvious since you’re going shopping.”

Huck gave her a nod, and she turned to us, grinning. “We’re going to elope next month in Fiji. I need things for the trip.”

“Well, damn!” Kye said, putting his fork down. “That’s what I call eloping.”

Trinity beamed back at Huck. “We decided the whole wedding planning stuff was more stress than we wanted.”

“That sounds amazing,” Aspen told her. “Congratulations.”

“Thank you,” she replied. “I will need female advice on the bikinis. Huck is no help. He wants me covered up at all times.”

Aspen laughed, and I fucking loved hearing it.

“You’ve not tried on anything,” Trinity said as she took another shopping bag from the salesclerk. “I thought you loved that blue romper we saw earlier.”

I had loved it, but the price tag was way out of my budget. “I did, but I don’t need anything. I have plenty. I’d much rather help you shop.”

Trinity didn’t look convinced. “Okay, but I think that romper would look fantastic on you. So would that white sundress with the yellow piping.”

Both of those had cost over two hundred dollars. That wasn’t happening on my budget. I was more of a thrift-store shopper. This was my first experience going into shops with designer clothing.

“They were nice, but I don’t need them.”

Bart, one of the guys that Huck had sent with us as bodyguards, took the bag from Trinity. I wasn’t sure why we needed bodyguards unless it was because having me anywhere was dangerous. No one had mentioned the threats on me lately. I felt bad that we had men following us around because of me. Although it was nice that Trinity didn’t have to carry her bags. There were several of them.

“You and Levi seem to have gotten close,” she said quietly. I assumed it was so the men behind us and in front of us wouldn’t hear.

“Yeah, he has been great,” I replied.

She waited for a moment. “So, is it as friends, or is it …” She trailed off.

“Oh, it’s as friends. It’s not like that.” I felt my cheeks heat up when I thought about last night and this morning.

“Hmm,” she said.

I wondered what she meant by that. I didn’t push though. Thankfully, she saw another store that she wanted to go into.

The next few questions were about outfits and my opinion. She took back five things to try on.

While I waited, Six stepped up to me, holding out a phone. “It’s for you.”

I reached out and took it from him. “Hello?”

“Having fun?” Levi asked.

“Yes,” I replied with a smile on my face.

“What have you bought?”

“Uh, nothing. I’m just here for Trinity.”

“You’ve not seen anything you want?”

“No, not really,” I lied.

He sighed. “Not even the blue romper or white sundress?”

Frowning, I glanced at Six, who shrugged.

“Uh …” I wasn’t sure what to say.

“If you don’t go buy them both, I’ll have Six get them for you, and he doesn’t have a fucking clue about sizes.”

“No. They’re cute, but they cost more than I want to spend.”

“Aspen, go get them.”

“Levi, I refuse to spend that.”

He paused. “Fine. Give the phone back to Six.”

“Okay. Bye.”

“Bye.”

I handed the phone back to Six just as Trinity walked out in a short, formfitting pink dress that looked incredible on her.

I nodded. “You need that.”

She grinned. “Huck will love it and hate it.”

“Then, obviously, you need it.”

She laughed. “You’re a good influence.”

When she went back into the dressing room, I decided to look around. Not that I was going to buy anything. I touched several dresses simply because I was curious about the fabric. I liked the way they felt. Glancing back at the dressing room to make sure Trinity didn’t want to show me something else she’d put on, I bumped into someone.

Spinning back around to apologize because I’d been clumsy, I was surprised to find a familiar face. One I hadn’t expected to see again.

“Brent?”

He smiled, and a blush touched his cheeks. “Hey. I didn’t mean to sneak up on you like that. I just thought it was you and wanted to come say hello.”

I had once thought Brent was attractive, beautiful even. I had lived in a very sheltered world, I now realized. His blond hair, blue eyes, and perfect white smile were all very average.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, returning his smile. It was nice to see someone from home.

“I transferred to the University of Florida this year. Finished junior college and wanted to get out of Robertsdale. I’d heard you moved down here to live with your sister. I was hoping I’d run into you.”

He was? Why?

“Did Patricia transfer too?” I asked since they were engaged. I couldn’t imagine her leaving Robertsdale though.
