Shawn started licking garlic butter off his fingers. The slurping sound sent Jude’s mind to dirty places again.

“Maybe you should go and get more pillows from your room,” he said as Shawn tried and failed to make himself comfortable against the wall. “One each isn’t really enough.”

“Yeah, that’s a good idea. Pause this for a minute and I’ll go and get them.”

“We can wash our hands too. Because you sucking on your fingers like that isn’t helping me focus on the film. Just saying.”

Shawn flushed and grinned. “Sorry.”

Jude licked his own fingers suggestively before leaning forward to click Pause. “You see how distracting it is?”

“Yeah, I get it.” Shawn rolled his eyes. “Perv. Okay, I’ll be back in a few.” He got up and went downstairs.

Jude went and washed his hands in the bathroom. Calm the fuck down, he told himself. Stop thinking about sex and watch the damn film.

But just the sound of Shawn coming back up the stairs made his heart leap.

CHAPTER NINE

They reconvened on Jude’s bed, and Shawn had to agree it was much more comfortable with the extra padding to lean against. Jude also brought a fleece blanket to put over their legs as they were both still in running shorts.

Shawn settled back with a happy sigh. “Yeah, that’s much better.”

Warm, with a full belly, beer to drink, a good movie, and Jude for company, this was shaping up to be an excellent Friday night.

Shawn was glad Jude had decided to hang out with him. He’d been blindsided by the jolt of jealousy that burned through him earlier when Jude had mentioned who he was texting. What the hell was that about? He had no claim on Jude. Their relationship was a budding friendship at best, so why would he care if Jude was hooking up with another guy?

Pushing those thoughts aside, Shawn tried to focus on the present and stop overthinking.

Their shoulders bumped as he made himself comfortable beside Jude. Shawn didn’t try to stop himself from leaning on Jude a little, and Jude didn’t seem to care. As Shawn inhaled he could smell their sweat from working out earlier. Not wanting the pizza to get cold, neither had taken the time to shower.

It should be gross, two blokes sitting here together all sweaty from the gym. Yet instead of being disgusting, the mingled scent of their bodies only made Shawn think of other ways they could get sweaty together. That was a dangerous direction to let his thoughts wander in, and he was suddenly glad of the blanket covering his lap.

“We stink,” he said lightly.

“Yeah.” Jude didn’t sound like he minded. “Whatever. I’ll shower before bed.”

And now Shawn was imagining Jude in the shower, naked and wet. For fuck’s sake. Why couldn’t he get his mind off Jude?

Jude’s attention was focused on the screen. “Damn, he’s hot as hell,” Jude said as Ryan Reynolds was getting down and dirty with the female lead.

Shawn considered this. He’d spent years trying not to consider the relative hotness of male celebrities. He’d often admired them, but had always told himself it was envy rather than fancying them—he wanted to be them, not bang them. But now he had to admit that he would totally bang Ryan Reynolds… or wouldn’t mind sucking his dick at the very least. The idea of sucking another man off was scary, but thrilling too. He liked what Jude had done to him and was keen to reciprocate, but he wasn’t sure how to ask for it—or whether it was wise, especially when his only intimate contact with Jude was on camera. He didn’t want to make a twat of himself in front of an audience if he sucked at cocksucking.

Maybe he should talk to Jude and admit that he wanted to experiment off-camera too. But what if Jude didn’t want that? Maybe he only wanted Shawn as part of his show, the so-called straight guy to bring in more punters. If Shawn asked Jude for more and he turned him down, it would make things awkward. Shawn didn’t want to do anything to derail this tentative new friendship. Since his best mate, Mike, had moved away, he’d been lonely, and now with Beth out of his life too, Shawn needed all the new connections he could find.

“Sorry,” Jude said, obviously misinterpreting Shawn’s silence as discomfort. “I forgot for a moment there that I wasn’t hanging out with one of my mates who’s up for ogling hot dudes. Ignore me. The chick’s hot too, though. If you’re more into that.”

Shawn hesitated, gathering his courage. Admitting that Ryan Reynolds was hot seemed like a good first step towards being more honest about himself. “No, it’s okay. I was miles away. But actually I think they’re both pretty hot.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.” A warm feeling of pride spread through Shawn’s chest. He’d done it. He’d admitted out loud that he found men attractive—or one man at least—and the world hadn’t stopped turning.
