“But to answer your question—we both slide into your pussy,” Fierce growled softly. “For Bonding Sex, at least—our shafts merge together so we can fill our bride at the same time.”

“Dios,” Celia breathed. “That’s kind of hard to picture.”

“Well, I guess you won’t have to worry, since you’re going to marry Peter,” Fierce remarked. “I’m sure his equipment isn’t too big to handle.”

As a matter of fact, it wasn’t—Peter was definitely on the small side, but Celia wasn’t about to admit that.

“Enough about Peter,” she snapped. “Why do you always bring it back to him?”

“Because I’m trying to fucking understand the appeal—trying to understand why you’d want to be with such a weak little male who doesn’t even treat you right,” Fierce growled. “Besides, it’s my turn to ask a question. Truth or Dare, lelka?”

“Fine.” Celia blew out a breath. “Truth.” There was no way she was giving the Dark Twin an opportunity to “Dare” her anything.

“All right, tell me something…” Fierce leaned over her, so close she was looking directly into his glowing eyes. “Does he make you hot at all? Does he arouse you? Make you want him? Because it doesn’t look like it from the dreams we’ve shared with you.”

Those damn dreams again! Celia wished she knew exactly what they’d seen when they were dreaming of her.

“I mean…sure he does,” she began but Fierce shook his head.

“Uh-uh, sweetheart. You’re supposed to answer truthfully,” he reminded her. “I can smell that you’re lying.”

“You can not!” Celia exclaimed.

“Actually, your scent does change when you tell an untruth. It’s impossible not to notice when we’re this close to you,” Hold murmured. “You can tell us the truth, my lady—we won’t be upset.”

“All right, no—Peter doesn’t turn me on very much, all right?” she snapped. “But that doesn’t matter to me. Because sex isn’t very important to me.”

“In that case, you haven’t been doing it right,” Fierce said flatly. “So why are you with him, then? It’s not for the money, is it? You don’t seem like the type.”

“If you’re asking if I’m a gold digger, no I’m not,” Celia said stiffly. “I even signed a Prenuptial agreement stating that if we divorce, I don’t get anything from him. It’s not about the money.”

“Then why? Why are you with him if it’s not for sex or for money and he and his family treat you so badly?” Fierce demanded and she had the idea he was genuinely frustrated. “Make it make sense for me, lelka. Why?”

“It’s because he wanted me—all right?” Celia burst out. “I grew up getting passed from family to family and nobody wanted me! Then Peter came along and swept me off my feet. He asked me to marry him on our third date—he wanted me!”

And then she burst into tears.

“Now look what you’ve done,” she heard Hold say to Fierce. “You made our lady cry!”

“I was just trying to understand why she’d want to be with that sniveling little male!” the Dark Twin protested.

“I want to sit up now!” Celia swiped at her eyes, her breath hitching in her chest as she tried and failed to stop crying. “I…I’m sure I’m w-warm enough!”

“Wait a minute, my lady—let me just check,” Hold murmured. He leaned over Celia but instead of touching her arm as he had before, he put his arms around her and drew her close to his chest.

At first she resisted, but then his warm, spicy scent filled her nose and Celia felt something break inside her at his gentle embrace. With a little sob, she pressed her face to his broad chest and put her arms around him as far as they would go.

“It’s all right, my lady,” she heard Hold murmuring as he stroked her hair and her trembling shoulders. “It’s not wrong to want to be wanted. Fierce and I have known that feeling too—we were never really wanted at our relative’s house after our parents died.”

“We slept in the fucking loft where they kept the feed for their animals and weren’t even allowed to take meals with the family,” Fierce growled behind her and Celia felt him put a tentative hand on her shoulder. “Sorry, lelka. I didn’t mean to make you cry again.”

“I…I just…” Celia shook her head and couldn’t go on.

How could she say that they’d made her admit something out loud what she hadn’t even admitted to herself up until now? That she was with Peter because he wanted her for herself—he wanted to marry her, not just use her for sex as other men would be happy to do if she’d let them. His proposal had meant the world to her for that fact alone and she was willing to put up with everything else because of it. Because he wanted her.

But why does he want you? whispered a little voice in her head. Why, when all he ever does is criticize and tell you to lose weight or change your outfit or change your hair? What is your true value to Peter?
