My annoyance turns to dread as I near the scene, and that dread metamorphoses into horror when I see that one girl undo her red dress. Somehow, I know in my bones that she’s totally naked underneath it. I stomp toward the table, my blood boiling. If she’s not gone by the time I get there, I know I’m angry enough to go to jail tonight.

But to my horror, her two friends follow suit. Literally, the black-and-white zebra girl and the too-blonde blonde also shimmy their clothes open, waggling their assets at my boyfriend. If I’m not mistaken, the too-blonde blonde is stroking her pussy right now and offering a taste to Sam.

What the fuck? An angry red color blazes before my eyes, and I can hear my pulse thumping in my brain. Just as I’m about to let out a scream, the girls pull their dresses closed and saunter off, completely ignoring me. When I get to the table, Sam’s cheeks are bright red. He shakes his head like he’s coming out of a dream, and then his eyes find mine. He must see how angry I am because he looks terrified. Good. I want him scared. I jerk my chin to the door, and he gets the message.

I have never been so fucking embarrassed in my entire life. What the hell was that? Did he kiss someone while I was in the bathroom? Did he lap at a girl’s nipple before tasting her cunt? What could have caused those girls to behave like that?

Now, we’re sitting in Sam’s Jeep, and my arms are crossed tightly over my chest.

“Jessa, please talk to me,” he says.

I don’t answer, merely staring straight ahead.

“Jess, please,” he begs again.

I ignore him, fuming in my seat. With a defeated sigh, he starts the car and begins driving. When the Jeep pulls up to my apartment, I start to get out of the vehicle, but he catches my wrist. “Jessa, come on. Can’t you just talk to me?”

I shake off his hand. “I’m pissed, Sam.”

“Well, yeah. Obviously.”

I whirl on him. “Don’t take that tone with me. I’m the one who should be annoyed. There were so many women throwing themselves at you all night, Sam, but you looked so unbothered. And then three girls come up to you, open their dresses, and show everything to you. What did you do to cause it? Don’t you get how humiliating that is?”

“Oh, I get it. So random women flash me, but this is actually about you.” He sighs and runs a hand through his hair. “You know, I never took you for the jealous type, Jessa.”

My face gets hot with an angry blush. “Why wouldn’t I be jealous? Wouldn’t you be pissed if I had tons of guys coming on to me like that? Wouldn’t you be embarrassed?”

He shakes his head with exhaustion. “If that happened, I would take the asshole to the parking lot and let him know what I thought. But that would be after I talked to you.”

I roll my eyes. “Oh, spare me the fucking macho act.”

He leans back in his seat, tiredness making his shoulders sag. “You really don’t need to get so mad about this. Women like me, and it’s been like this since I was fourteen. That’s just the way things go.”

My temper flares. “Oh, I see. You’re just so used to girls coming on to you that you don’t see how it hurts the person you’re with.” I clench my hands into fists. “So how many hearts have you broken, Mr. Playboy? Is it ten? Twenty? Thirty? More? Were you planning on making me your next victim? Am I just another notch on your bedpost?”

He frowns. “That’s not fair, Jessa. I’ve never thought of you like that.”

I can tell I’ve hurt him, but I’m still seeing red. “Isn’t it, though? I’ve been with men like you, Sam. I know your type. How much longer were you going to string me along before you got bored? Have you been with me all this time because you felt sorry for me?”

That makes fury descend on his face.

“Jessa, back the fuck off,” he growls. “I am a single, red-blooded man in my thirties. There will always be women flirting with me. I can’t control what they do and for your information, I have never looked at you that way.”

But I’m no longer thinking coherently.

“Back the fuck off? You should’ve told those women to back off.”

“I did! Or did you only hear what you wanted to hear?” He shakes his head again. “I’m not a robot, Jessa! I never have been. I don’t have to wait for women because my entire adult life, they have begged for it. What do you want me to do? Get plastic surgery to be uglier? Stop working out? Maybe it’s you who can’t handle it.”
