I’m left panting, shaking—this powerful wave of relief moving through me, mixed with the occasional lingering jolt of adrenaline that reminds me of just how worked up I was.

As I settle, Frankie slides up beside me. He lies on his side, resting his hand on my stomach, a grin across his face.

“I think I deserve Reese’s Pieces for that,” I tease, and he releases a loud, boisterous laugh.

I’m pleased seeing how much happier he looks than when he first got home. And as he offers a gentle kiss on my cheek, I’m reminded that, just like with the kiss, all is well between us.

Frankie

Sweat runs down my forehead, a bead slipping into my eye and making it sting. I wipe my temple with the back of my hand as my feet continue to pound against the concrete. Donovan jogs on one side of me, Travis on the other and Cody, then Jackson beside him. Evan, Derek, Gary, and Hayden are doing hot yoga and then having a spa day.

This is the first time I’ve introduced Donovan to the crew, but like I figured they would, they’ve all gotten along well, just like he’s always been around.

“My calves are burning,” Cody says breathlessly as we continue.

“It’s all those sweets Hayden is always making. I noticed a little bit of a belly,” Travis teases his best friend.

Donovan gives a playful gasp as though he can’t believe Travis went there, but it’s Travis, and soon he’ll see there isn’t anywhere he won’t go. He’s full of shit, though. Cody looks great, and he knows it.

“Nah, that’s the baby. Hayden knocked me up. Made an honest man of me and shit,” Cody replies and we all laugh. “Kidding. I just feel so bad, ya know? When you look as good as me, it’s only fair to sacrifice something for the rest of you. I can’t imagine how hard it is for you guys, being friends with me and all. Especially you, Trav. Spending all those years in my shadow, hoping and praying for the one day you could look as good as me.”

“You wish, fucker.” Travis grabs for Cody who twists out of his reach, laughing.

“Such a sore loser,” Cody says, and then before I know it, Travis is after him, chasing him off the park path and through the grass.

“I hope Travis doesn’t kill him,” Jackson adds.

We all know how Travis is about his body.

We head toward them just as Travis playfully tackles Cody to the ground. They wrestle around a moment and then both lie on their backs, laughing and breathing heavily.

“Guess this means our jog is over?” Donovan says. “Thank fuck. You guys don’t play with your workouts.”

“It’s that bastard.” I point to Travis as we all sort of fall down onto the grass beside them.

“I have a wedding to get ready for.” He grins a big-ass cheesy smile that speaks of how happy he is to make Gary his husband.

“You’re getting married? Congrats, man,” Donovan says.

“How are the plans coming along?” Jackson adds.

“Crazy as shit. As best man, I can speak to Travis’s bridezilla tendencies,” Cody replies. They all go back and forth for a few minutes, but I’m having a hard time concentrating. I still feel Evan’s lips on mine, the taste of him on my tongue, and the pure fucking joy in his eyes when I called him a good boy. Last night was…unexpected. More so than our first make-out session, likely because this time it was Evan who started it. Evan who hasn’t so much as touched another man since his breakup with Peter, the prick who was his first.

My jaw tightens as I think about the asshole. God, I fucking hate him—on the same level of rage I’ve always felt toward my sperm donor.

Last night…that hadn’t been about Peter, though. It hadn’t been about anyone other than me and Evan…our connection, the newfound desire surging between us, the trust he has in me that makes me feel like I’m fucking invincible. As if there isn’t anything I can’t do. But it also scares the living fuck out of me because I don’t want to let him down. Christ, I’d never forgive myself if I let him down in any way.

It’s crazy—the amount of obsession I can put into a blowjob when shit like that has never been a big deal before. Evan and I are fine. This morning was like any other day, but I can’t stop thinking about it. Fuck, he had my dick so damn hard, and the way he’d looked at me and smiled afterward with those perfect teeth and pouty lips of his.

I don’t really know what’s going on, but it’s something. I feel it in my bones.

There’s a poke in my side. “You okay, man?” Donovan asks. What the fuck is with me and spacing off like this lately?
