Rosalie giggled. It sounded preposterous, but she wouldn’t put anything past him. Petal locked up her car, not that there was a lot to lock seeing as the roof was always down. It had broken at the start of summer, and with rain on the horizon, they would have to get it fixed.

“How about I pay half toward the roof?” Rosalie said.

“You don’t need to do that.”

“I can’t afford a car and you bring me to work every single day. I think it’s only fair I pay half.”

“Fine, fine. I’m going to take your money because I don’t want to drown.”

“If you get it in the shop, we can find out the price and then get it fixed.”

Petal grabbed her face and Rosalie struggled not to wince. Petal kissed her lips. “Have I told you lately that I love you?”

She chuckled. “Enough already.” She swatted at her friend.

“I just love girl on girl. I’ll pay you both ten bucks to make out,” Al said.

They wrinkled their noses.

“Nah, thanks,” Petal said.

“Is it busy?” Rosalie asked.

“It’s always busy. You two are—”

“Right on time,” Petal said. “And we’re here.”

“Loving the uniform, Rosalie,” Al said, slapping her ass when she walked past.

She clenched her hands into fists. It was fine. Totally fine. Even as her ass smarted. She forced a smile to her lips, picking up the menu in her grip. She had her notebook to take down orders. It was going to be a long day. Al was clearly handsy today.

She wanted to rub her ass, but instead, she kept the smile on her lips and got to work. There were a couple of families in and she loved to help them wherever possible. Sometimes there were a few mean people, but often, she saw it was down to stress.

For the first three hours, everything went by without a problem. People were in good moods, they were happy, and Rosalie could pretend everything was fine.

Then, she heard the sound of roaring bikes. It was close to lunchtime. In all the years she worked at the diner, there hadn’t been a single visit from a biker or any of the MCs. What the fuck was going on? She glanced toward Petal, who merely shrugged. This was also new for her.

Rosalie finished serving the table as the door opened. She caught the sign on the jacket. This wasn’t the Evil Fuckers MC. No, this was the Satan’s Death Riders MC, not that they were any better.

She didn’t know if she could handle her father today. He would be pissed. She hoped he’d been too drunk to realize how angry he was with her.

However, she spotted him—Colt, her soon-to-be husband.

Ignoring the group of men, she went to the main counter to see Al looking excited.

“You’re happy about this?” she asked.

“You win a club with your food, then you’re set for life. They’ll come every single day.”

She hoped not.

“Open your shirt. Tease them. Let them think they can fuck you.”

Rosalie ignored him and reached for the food for the couple that had ordered.

He grabbed her wrists. “I’ll have Petal deal with these. You go and take their orders. Be nice. Show that smile I know wins them over.”

She wanted to hit him so damn badly.

Yes, a few customers had complimented her smile and had put several dollars as a tip in the waitress jar. They were sweet for doing so. She never flirted, she was just nice.

There had been a few men who’d been less than polite, trying to tempt her into giving up the goods, but that was not happening either.

Notebook in hand, she glanced across the room to see Petal looking at her. She forced a smile to her lips, and then walked over to the couple.

“Your food will be over shortly,” she said.

“Is it, er, safe?”

“Yes, of course. Please enjoy your meal and if you need anything, just raise your hand. I’ll come to you.” She tried to reassure the young couple.

The last place she wanted to be was in this diner right now. Pen poised to write, aware of Al watching her, she stepped toward the group of men. Some she recognized, others she didn’t.

“What can I get you?” she asked.

“How about a round of free pussy on the table? I like to fuck after I eat!” She had no idea who spoke with the big mouth, but she saw other families covering their young children’s ears.

She couldn’t allow Al to lose his customers. This job was important to her. It helped pay the bills for her mother. It kept her sane. Her mother would never leave and she was starting to see why—she couldn’t. Rosalie had a feeling Daemon would make things a lot worse for her if she left. Hands clenched, she took a deep breath, and then gave a smile she reserved for customers she liked.
