B IS FOR BOYFRIEND (AND BUTT-FUCKING) (SORRY. PLEASE KEEP READING)

FELIX

YOU KNOW WHAT’S even better than getting high?

Landing the guy you want.

That is so fucking dope.

They should talk about how great this is at meetings. Maybe this is what all addicts need to hear, because I guarantee no one will ever want to use or abuse drugs again once they find out about how good this feels.

“We should probably get back out there. Ben and Luke want to talk to you,” Jake says, popping the happy little bubble I’m currently floating around in.

“The cops?” I lean away.

“Yeah. My brother called them when we got to your house and saw the drugs.”

“Oh.”

Fuck.

I’d really rather not get arrested again. That shit sucks.

“Can’t I just stay in this room for the rest of my life? Maybe they’ll forget I’m here.”

Avoiding jail time isn’t the only reason I’d rather stay right where I am. I’d also like to admire my new boyfriend a little.

It’s no secret. I really like looking at Jake.

Honestly, it’s one of my favorite things to do.

He’s all dark features—unkempt hair that’s nearly black and thick eyebrows that match. His eyes are the deepest, prettiest brown. And while my skin is pale white, his looks lightly sun kissed.

I love how we’re both brunettes, but how Jake’s hair is shorter and straighter, while mine curls against my forehead and ears. The angles in his face are sharper than mine, even though I’m skinnier, and his nose is perfectly straight while mine has a small bump left over from a punch I took from my dad when I was twelve.

Jake’s tall and built like a soldier, even though he can’t claim to be one anymore.

He’s strong but not overly bulky. His muscles are lean and long, and he looks amazing without a shirt.

Jake’s the textbook definition of hot, and I’m lucky he even looks at me.

“Hey.” He takes hold of my face and lifts my head when I begin to mope. “They just want to ask you shit about your dad. I don’t really know them that well, but they’re friends with my brother and he trusts them. They shouldn’t get on you that much. I told them your dad was the one who scored and not you.”

“You knew it was him?”

“I never doubted it.”

“That’s—thank you.” I swallow past the emotion trying to choke me. “For believing I wouldn’t do that. That means a lot, Jake. You have no idea how much.”

He stares at my lips. “You say the cutest shit.”

I puff out my cheeks and shrug.

“What are you doing?” he asks.

“Trying not to blush again. My face just returned to normal.”

“So? I love it when you do that.”

“Oh. Okay. Hold on one se—yep. There you go.”

He chuckles, dropping his hands from my burning cheeks. “You know they arrested your dad, right?”

Jake’s (finally) my boyfriend, and now this?

And the good news keeps on coming.

“No, but that’s great. Now I don’t have to deal with him. Did they find my car?”

His face tenses.

“Shit. What.”

“Your dad totaled it trying to get away from the cops.”

“Oh, come on! For real?” I step back, gripping my neck with both hands. “Like, totaled totaled?”

“I’m pretty sure, yeah.”

“Why is he such a dick!”

I pace in front of Jake’s bed, thinking of all the ways I’d like to cause physical harm to my father, because I unfortunately already know the damage won’t be covered by my insurance.

“This is the second time he’s done that,” I say.

“He’s wrecked your car before?”

“Yeah. My first car. Got loaded and drove it straight into a lake.”

“Jesus. Your dad sucks.”

“Please tell me he got fucked up too.” I stop pacing. “Like, mangled, will never walk again, fucked up.”

“No idea.”

“Let’s find out.”

I grab Jake’s hand and pull him out of the room and down the hallway toward absolute silence, which I’m not expecting since I’ve already been told I’m about to be questioned by the police, who apparently know Dean well enough. They all seemed happy to see each other when we got here.

Why wouldn’t they be talking right now?

I stop at the entrance to the kitchen and find Riley seated at the island and the guys on the couch, and everyone is stuffing their faces with pie.

“Oh. I forgot about the pie.” I lick my lips.

Jake laughs quietly at my back, then urges me forward with a gentle hand and moves around me. He opens a cabinet and grabs a plate.

I walk over to the couch and stand next to the end Dean is sitting at, briefly glancing at the two guys seated beside him.

So, Ruxton has a bunch of hot cops. Like, fuck me now hot. I’ve just never had the pleasure of being arrested by one.

Seems fair.

“Hey,” I say, nudging Dean with my elbow. “How is it?”

He looks up from his plate. “It’s really good. Get a piece.”
