No one’s coming for me.
I burst into tears and try not to puke when Levi starts kissing them away.
Callum
Darren Paulson is dirty as fuck. I knew he was a slimy piece of shit the day he came into the principal’s office when his rotten son had pictures of Willa. He just gave off a vibe. But seeing actual proof is something entirely different.
He’s a snake.
The documentation Jude dug up was plentiful and keeps coming as he unearths it. We’ll never be able to use it in court, considering the means we obtained them, but it’ll be enough to open up an investigation.
“What can you do about it?” I ask Sloane, drumming my fingers on the edge of her desk.
She purses her lips and studies her computer monitor. “I mean, there’s enough here from this ‘anonymous’ tip to get a warrant. He’s not some rando messing with another rando. Paulson is an esteemed attorney going out of his way to sway an election by conspiring to damage your family reputation.”
The Park Mountain police station is quiet this evening aside from a couple cops barking out laughter from somewhere within the building. Sloane continues to click through the documents sent to her from Jude via an encrypted email claiming to be anonymous.
A creak resounds from the station’s front door and then footsteps squeak across the linoleum floor. Hugo rounds the corner wearing a scowl.
“Well?” he asks, gaze darting between the two of us.
“It’s big,” Sloane says with a tired sigh. “What did you guys do to piss him off?”
Knowing our family, the list is probably endless. We Parks are always raining on someone’s parade.
When Hugo starts interrogating Sloan about her information, I pull my phone from my pocket to let Willa know I might be later than expected. Several texts sit unread.
Willa: Please hurry. Levi’s trying to get into my room and he’s scaring me.
Seconds later, I see she’s sent another one.
Willa: He knows. I don’t know how, but he knows. I’m so sorry, Callum. I don’t know what he’ll do with this information.
All the blood in my veins turns to sludge and then ices over. It’s been several minutes since she texted. If that bastard got into her room…
“I have to go,” I bark out, flying out of my seat. “Call me if anything else comes up.”
Hugo scowls at me, but I don’t have seconds to waste on an explanation. On the way to the car, I text both Dempsey and Spencer in a group chat.
Me: Meet me at Willa’s. Now.
Before I reach my vehicle, they’ve both responded.
Dempsey: Is she hurt????
Spencer: Why are we meeting at Willa’s?
Me: Just do it!
I fling open the car door and hop inside. My phone buzzes with more texts.
Spencer: On our way.
Dempsey: Are you fucking her???
I send a thumb emoji. They can sort it out themselves on who I was talking to. For the record, it was both. Peeling out of the police station parking lot, I haul ass toward her house. As I near our road, Spencer’s midnight-black BMW 8 Series darts out in front of traffic, causing a few vehicles to honk and swerve.
Crazy little shit.
I’m thankful they’re not wasting any time, though. Spencer drives like he’s training for NASCAR and barrels down the road ahead of me. My heart is beating out of my chest. Worry strangles my throat to the point I can’t breathe. I push the button to the window, inhaling the cold air as it whips at my face. The drive to Willa’s doesn’t take long and when we’re in front of her house, the three of us bolt toward her open window.
As we near, I hear her whimpers.
Her motherfucking pleas.
So help me, if that psycho touched her…
I don’t finish that thought as I push the curtains out of the way and step into her room. My shoes crunch on glass. I freeze for half a second, trying to process the scene.
My girl…
My fucking girl is pinned beneath Levi. Both their shirts are gone. She’s struggling as he works at pulling her pants off.
He doesn’t hear me or see me.
Willa’s dark eyes find mine and a sob of relief escapes her. Meanwhile, I detonate like a bomb.
With a roar that is so powerful it could rattle the house, I charge for him. Crashing into him, I grab hold of him and roll away from her. We continue to roll until we land on the floor with him on top of me. Dempsey’s and Spencer’s voices can be heard beyond the rage ringing in my ears, but I don’t stop to investigate or worry over the fact they’re seeing Willa topless.
Right now, all I care about is killing this motherfucker.
I slam my fist into his face, knocking him off me. Before he can sit up, I’m on him, sitting on his stomach so I can rain my fists down on him. He’s young and strong, but my fury makes me an unbeatable beast.
