I couldn’t explain it. I didn’t want to explain it. Mostly, I’d just really wanted to fuck him. Look at his beautiful face as I pushed inside him. Watch what he looked like as he came.

My phone buzzed again, breaking me out of my daydream about the pretty boy.

>>Liz: So take him home.

>>Luke: No go. He got divorced recently. Last thing he wants or needs is a hookup.

>>Liz: Yikes.

>>Luke: But you can’t say I didn’t try.

>>Liz: That’s it. I’m adding you to the singles dating app.

>>Luke: Lol. Good luck getting me to participate.

I hoped to God that would be enough to keep Lizzy off my case for at least the next week. Liz had seen me through my best and my worst. But a couple months ago, I’d made the mistake of admitting to her that I got lonely sometimes, and she’d begun some sort of multi-tiered mission to make sure I found love.

It was sweet, really. Liz believed in me. She didn’t know that I’d just about given up on relationships completely. Things always ended the same way: a guy would seem amazing, we’d date passionately for a few weeks, the sex would be amazing, and then real life would start to creep back in.

And my life was a whole lot easier when I only had to worry about myself.

I didn’t plan things. I didn’t worry about my future. I’d done way too much of that in the past. I took things one day at a time, and I sure as hell didn’t take any day for granted.

The one time I’d really let myself feel something—something real—it had all been taken from me in an instant.

That’s what it was like in Afghanistan. Things changed in the blink of an eye.

But even if my heart would never heal from the past, I’d still wished I could bring Cam’s gorgeous ass home with me, just for one night.

As I swung open the door to my pickup, I heard someone call out from behind me.

“Hey!”

That pretty voice that matched his pretty face perfectly. A rush of excitement passed through me, all the way down to my cock, even though I knew nothing good could come of it.

I turned and nodded at Cameron as he walked over to me. Bounced, almost. When I’d talked to him in the bar, he had seemed like sunshine half-hidden by clouds. Like he was curled in on himself, afraid to let himself out.

His smile was so sweet and earnest as he came up to me, trotting the last few steps of the way, a messenger bag hanging from his shoulder.

“Hey. Sorry. I’m glad I caught you,” he said.

I didn’t know how someone could look so fresh this late into the day. His eyes were radiant, a clear and bright jewel blue. He pushed his light brown hair to the side with one hand.

“You need more help with your puzzle?” I asked, cocking an eyebrow.

I knew it was probably a bad thing, but I couldn’t help but tease him.

He bit his lower lip, looking up at me. I probably only had a couple of inches on him, but even that small size difference went straight to my head. I liked feeling bigger than someone, like I could pull him in close and toss him onto my bed.

“I don’t need help with my puzzle,” he said, shifting on his feet. “But I wouldn’t mind help with something else.”

He stepped toward me, closing the distance between us and pressing his groin up against my thigh.

“Mmm,” I hummed as I felt his hard cock push up against me.

What the fresh hell was this?

His eyes went wide, like he couldn’t believe what he’d just done, either. But then his gaze flickered up to meet mine, all big blue eyes and long lashes, and he leaned forward like he was daring me to kiss him.

“Bold moves, pretty boy,” I murmured, my voice low. It was painfully hard not to lean forward and kiss him. He knew exactly what he was doing, his face just a few centimeters away from mine. I could smell his shampoo, herbal and inviting.

He bucked his hips lightly, his erection warm and thick against my leg.

“You gonna kiss me?” he asked, a clear challenge in his gaze. I couldn’t help but bring my hands to his hips, steadying him.

“You don’t want me to kiss you,” I said.

“Pretty sure I do.”

I sucked my lower lip into my mouth, breathing deep. “I could kiss you. I could do a whole lot more than kiss you, actually. I want to push you up against this truck and have my way with you.”

He leaned forward, teasing me, running his lips against the underside of my jaw and pressing a small, warm kiss onto the side of my neck. It sent a rush through me. My cock was getting harder and harder by the second, and I knew Cameron could probably feel it through my denim.
