“I was just telling the girls about our plans.” I pull back and smile at him, then turn to introduce my friends. “Bender, this is my friend, Jenna, the Editor-in-Chief of Curvy Cuties.”
He gives her his million-dollar smile and reaches for her outstretched hand. “Nice to finally meet you.”
I watch my happily married friend melt right before my eyes. “You too,” is all the chattiest of all of us manages.
“This is Maddie, Emery, and Piper.” I point at each of my friends and watch while they each have the same reaction as Jenna.
“I thought I might take all of you to lunch after your meeting,” Bender offers. “If you have time?” They all nod while staring at him with their mouths hanging open. He turns to me and smiles the special smile he reserves for me. “Is noon good? I have a few errands, and then I’ll come back to get you guys.”
“That sounds great.” I kiss him one more time and watch him walk out the door.
“You lucky bitch,” Jenna mutters. “We’ll make your job work because there is no way you can turn down a chance with that man.”
My heart settles into place knowing I won’t have to give up my friends to have my future with Bender.
Chapter Ten
Bender
I spend the rest of the morning putting my plan into action. After London walked out her door this morning, I got a taste of missing her. I can’t take that shit. It only took a few calls for me to make my arrangements.
At ten minutes to noon, I walk back into the Curvy Cuties office to find three bulking assholes glaring at me. “He does look like all that,” the tallest of the three growls. “Look at that shiner. I bet he pissed off a mean motherfucker.”
These must be the Cuties’ men. After years of dealing with jealous men who have nothing to worry about, I hold out my hand to the leader. “I’m Bender Valentine, London’s man.” None of these fuckers better have a thing for my angel or I will be forced to kick some ass. “And my angel’s brother was a little disgruntled.” They don’t need to know any more than that.
His eyes narrow, but he returns my shake. “Wild Templeton, Jenna’s husband.” Then he steps back and points at the shortest of the three. “This is Captain Marco Grayson.” The other man grips my hand so tight, tears almost come to my eyes. I make sure to return his shake with equal pressure. “And this is my business partner, Dillon Evans.”
“Piper’s man,” the blond man adds.
“As soon as you get off your ass and make a move,” Wild mumbles under his breath, and his business partner growls something unintelligible under his breath before shaking my hand.
“I’m happy to meet all of you.” The years of Gloria drilling manners into my head pay off. “I was just coming to take the girls to lunch. You’re all welcome to join us if you’d like to.”
“Hell fucking yes,” the one who hasn’t grown the balls to make a move on his girl agrees.
The restaurant manager almost falls over himself while escorting us to the private room I reserved for our lunch. With Bent’s recent retirement, reporters will be hiding in bushes and dressing up like waiters to get close to me. I hate the attention, but it’s all part of the job. Hopefully, the uproar will die down soon enough. Once the world accepts the fact that I don’t ever plan on returning to the stage, I’ll be able to go out and relax without security.
The waitress keeps looking between me, Wild, Marco, and Dillon with wide eyes. “Can I do anything for you guys?” She ignores the women and smiles sweetly at me.
“Stop drooling over our men like they’re on the menu,” Jenna snaps. “And bring extra napkins.”
The waitress rushes away with her tail between her legs, and I wrap my arm around London’s shoulder. “Are you okay?” I haven’t had the chance to discuss what happened in the meeting and it’s killing me.
“Great.” She leans her head against my shoulder and smiles. “It’s all taken care of.” I still have no idea what’s going on, but I’ll have to wait until I get her alone later to find out.
“You’re crowding me, asshole.” Piper slides her chair away from Dillon. “Sheesh. Can’t a girl have lunch without you being a pain in the ass?”
“Stop.” He lays his hand over hers and stares into her stormy eyes. I watch the battle of wills, rooting for the adorable brunette. The big asshole deserves to be taken down a peg or fifty.
After we order our meal, I sit back and watch my angel with her friends. It’s easy to see how much they love each other. As much as I love my MC brothers. I’ll have to make sure she gets to spend time with them often. But first, I have to make her mine and give her my last name.
