And I couldn’t believe I was letting myself do it at all, because I feared Sebastian would leave me. No way he’d stick around. My parents didn’t. Fosters didn’t. No one had except for Parker, Marcus, and Corbin, so I was setting myself up for getting hurt. Still, I didn’t think I could make myself stop. Like I’d said before, Sebastian made me feel good, and damned if I didn’t want to hold on to that.

“This is nice,” he said, breath against my pecs.

“You’re putting pressure on my full bladder, but other than that I can’t complain,” I teased.

He chuckled, pushed onto his elbows, and looked down at me. “Good morning.”

“To you too. Why are you smiling?”

“Because I have a sexy man in my bed.” He sat up, straddling me, then leaned forward, running his nose along my neck and kissing me. I couldn’t help but grab his ass—I mean, it’s a great ass and it was right there. How could I pass up that opportunity?

But when he moved against me, the bladder situation I’d joked about a moment before became more urgent. “Did you forget I have to pee?”

“Maybe that’s my kink.”

“We’re going to find out in a minute.”

Sebastian chuckled, climbed off me and the bed, then held his hand out to pull me up. “Your bladder is a cockblock,” he teased.

“Can’t say I’ve heard that one before. I’ll be sure not to hydrate before I come over next time.”

Sebastian grinned again.

“What?”

“I like that next time.”

I rolled my eyes and playfully pushed him out of the way so I could go into the bathroom. The truth was, I liked that next time too. We weren’t even doing anything, and I was having fun with him. It was unnerving and frankly annoying but also fucking amazing. What had he done to me? Parker would die if he were in my head.

I went to the bathroom, and then Sebastian did the same.

“Do you want to use my toothbrush?” he asked, standing at the sink.

“Gross.”

“You let my tongue in your mouth but not my toothbrush?”

“Basically, yes. You let people use yours?”

“Well, I haven’t before, and you’ve shamed me enough that I’ll never offer again.” He knelt, rummaging under the cabinet and pulling out a packaged one. “Aha!”

“You’re a nerd.”

“But am I cute? Because that’s all I really care about.”

I chuckled in a way that only he seemed to be able to make me do. “You’re all right.”

“Liar.” He winked.

And then we brushed our teeth together like we were a couple. Were we a couple? Was that what we’d decided last night, and if so, why wasn’t I freaking the fuck out about it?

“Can you stay for breakfast?” Sebastian asked, starting to make his bed. I agreed and helped him, knowing he liked to keep it neat. Every time I’d come here, I’d noticed the perfectly made bed right before we ruined it. Afterward, I pulled on my jeans and him a pair of pajama bottoms, and we went downstairs. “Do you do coffee?” he asked.

It was crazy that we’d known each other so long, and that I felt like I knew him so well, yet there were so many small things like that we’d never learned. “If you expect me to be functional, yes.”

“A man after my own heart. Sit down. I’ll cook. I like feeding people. In my family that’s the way we show we care.”

I nodded, feeling a twitch in my chest. “We didn’t typically do things like that in my family, mostly because my parents didn’t care.” Shit. He could pull truths out of me with one look in his eyes.

“I’m sorry.”

“You shouldn’t be. It is what it is. I can’t change it. And I’m not the poor-me type. I don’t know why I said that.” He made me feel raw, bare, like I could let him see the parts of me I kept locked away.

“I like that you trust me. Now sit. I’m going to make you one of the most mediocre breakfasts you’ve ever had, but you’re obligated to tell me it’s incredible. Deal?”

I chuckled. “Deal.”

I sat down at the bar while Sebastian started the coffee and then began pulling food from the fridge. He chatted while he fried the bacon, talking about last night, and what time I had to be at work, and how bright his house got in the morning downstairs but that he loved all the natural light.

It felt strange just sitting there while he made us food. I noticed a pad of paper and a pen beside me, and absently started sketching while Sebastian rambled on. I lost myself in what I was doing, not coming out of it until he was standing beside me with a plate and looking down at…a drawing of him, at the stove, making our food. It was shitty. I was definitely out of practice, but I couldn’t remember the last time I’d done something like that. That I’d drawn something and fell into it so completely.
