So how had I never seen this side of life or even this side of myself before?

I’d let him jerk me off in a bar…hell, I’d encouraged it even when I’d been so embarrassed I thought I’d explode…and even after obsessing over it for days, I still didn’t regret it. Of course, I blushed every time I thought about it, but I knew if he took me there again, I’d be willing to do the same thing.

Probably more.

I still hadn’t seen the back room yet.

And now I’d made myself blush just as I walked up to Bex.

Damn it.

Somehow the walk between the bookstore and the intersection where we’d planned to meet had been shorter than I’d expected. He was trying not to laugh as he leaned against a streetlamp looking like a stud from an old movie, but he was doing a terrible job of keeping a straight face. “Am I supposed to pretend that you aren’t blushing and looking delightfully naughty?”

All I could do as he stared at me with an ear-to-ear grin was groan and that just made him even more pleased. “Hmm, I think I’ve decided against that plan, so don’t worry. You don’t have to make any decisions about it.”

He was so helpful.

But since I wasn’t sure I wanted to start off our date being snarky, I aimed for polite. “Thank you.”

Since we were technically just down the street from where we both worked, I wasn’t going to even think about calling him Sir or anything else, but the heat that flared in his eyes said he was thinking about it or something similar.

“So polite.” As he straightened and nodded down the street, I could almost hear the unsaid good boy in his low, sexy tone. “You’re tempting me to do something I shouldn’t.”

Like what?

It was almost dark outside and most of the stores had already closed. No matter what he did, there probably wouldn’t be much of an audience…

God, what was I thinking?

“You make me think ridiculous things. You know that?” If I hadn’t been so distracted, I’d have been more nervous, but he was good at scrambling my brains.

His laughter said he was going to take that as a good thing. “Well, thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” I managed not to sound too snarky, but he laughed again, so I hadn’t done too good of a job.

His smile said I didn’t have to worry, though. In fact, he was looking very relaxed and happy as we finally started making our way down the street toward his place. “I like this side of you.”

The quick glance he gave me as he looked over at me was filled with something sweet, making me blush again. “And there’s the other side that I like too.”

Well, it was good to know that he liked me whether or not I could function around him. “Eventually I hope to stop looking so ridiculous every time I’m around you.”

He scoffed, rolling his eyes. “I hope that day never comes.”

As I sighed, he grinned. “I like seeing your reactions…and I’m going to enjoy seeing a lot more of them later.”

On our date.

And the blush came back.

He chuckled but didn’t point it out specifically this time. “I wanted us to just have time to relax and get to know each other better tonight, so I ordered pizza. Sound good?”

Anything sounded good, honestly, so I nodded. “From Little Italy’s?”

It was down the street, another local business, and the food was great, so I wasn’t surprised when he sucked in a breath and looked offended. “Is there any other option?”

“So you’re saying I shouldn’t tell you that some nights I just microwave a frozen pizza for dinner?” His groan that time was genuine instead of dramatic. “Okay, I won’t mention that then.”

“The microwave? Really?” He started shaking his head when I gave him a sheepish nod. “We’re going to work on this. Real food for dinner.”

Ugh.

“But some days are too long for that.” I tried defending myself but I had a feeling he wasn’t going to agree with me. “I’m building up my freelance editing business, and I do that in the morning before I go into the store. Most of the time, the way my schedule works is I either have to take an early dinner at the shop or a late one when I get home.”

What I decided not to confess was that sometimes I just had cereal or chips while I was reading and didn’t bother with a meal at all.

Yep, his grumbly look said confessing that might not make his Dom side happy.

“We’re going to figure out a plan for you.” He said it so sincerely, I had a feeling it was going to be one of the first things my Dom took charge of.

Well, kind of my Dom.

Hopefully my Dom?

I wasn’t sure where that side of things stood since this was technically our first date, but since thinking about it didn’t send me running in the opposite direction, I was leaning toward hoping he’d be my Dom.
