“Please make me come,” he was begging beneath me. “I love you, Evan, I fucking love you—”

I let out a groan as I lost all control, filling the condom inside him as he squeezed tight around my cock. Waves ripped through me as I came and came, and before long, Mitch was coming, too. He covered my hand and his own stomach, clenching around me.

“I love you, too,” I gasped, watching him. “I love you so much.”

I stayed inside him for a moment as we both caught our breath. He was still gripping me tight around my waist, and I felt as his cock slowly began to soften in my hand.

The bed around us was a total mess. Pillows had scattered onto the floor and the fitted sheet had come off from one corner of the bed, leaving a patch of bare mattress exposed.

“That was the hardest I’ve ever come,” Mitch uttered, his voice still low and hoarse.

“You’re flattering me,” I said, slowly sliding out of him and discarding the condom in the basket by the bed.

“I’m not,” he said. He let out a long breath. “Holy hell.”

“The prostate can make for some amazing orgasms,” I said.

“I had no idea.”

“Come clean off with me?” I asked, nodding toward the shower.

“Sure thing, boyfriend,” Mitch said, grinning a moment later.

And then, as embarrassing as it was, I felt tears welling up in my eyes.

“Oh no,” Mitch said, noticing immediately and sitting up, getting close to me. “What’s wrong?”

I pulled in a long breath. One tear rolled down my face, but I got myself together in time before any more came.

“I’m sorry. I’m not sad, I’m completely fucking overwhelmed with how happy I am. I’m such a pathetic mess.”

It had happened when Mitch had so easily called me boyfriend.

“You are not a pathetic mess, you’re incredible, weirdo,” Mitch said. He pressed a line of kisses from my temple down to my lips.

“I love you so much,” I said. “Now let’s go get in the damn shower before I make a fool out of myself.”

“Hell yeah,” Mitch said, smiling sweetly. “Only because I want to wash you.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah. Like friends do,” Mitch said. “Friends who are actually boyfriends, and hopefully a lot more than that, someday.”

“Fuck, Mitch,” I said. “I know you’re terrified of that stuff. You don’t have to appease me.”

“I’m not,” he said. “I… definitely am terrified of marriage right now. I just got out of one. But I’m not terrified of thinking about it in the future. With you.”

“You absolute asshole. You’re trying to make me cry again,” I said. “Is this some sort of ploy to diminish my masculinity?”

“I hate that shit,” Mitch said, standing up and crossing over to the bathroom. “How is it not masculine to cry? Fuck that. I wish I could cry more.”

“And that’s why I love you, Mitchell Price,” I said.

“If you really loved me, you’d come get in this shower with me!” he called out, and I heard the sound of the shower turning on.

It was strange to realize that this was everything I’d wanted for so long.

It was so simple. Mitch, my boyfriend, yelling for me to get in the shower with him.

It was better than winning the goddamn lottery. And it was my real life.

Taking the leap hadn’t even been hard at all. In fact, it just felt like a simple step forward. A step into a future that didn’t scare me one bit.

“All I’m saying is that you have to be cheating at this game, somehow,” I told Red. We were behind the bar, and Evan was on one of the stools in front of us. “Ev, since you’re here this time, you can be the referee. Tell me if you see Red doing some slight-of-hand tricks.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Evan said, holding up a hand as he took another gulp of his beer. “Mitch, you’re trying to tell me that Red is cheating at… rock paper scissors?”

“See, Mitch? You’re crazy,” Red said.

“No. There is no way a human being can win at any game this much, I don’t care how simple it is,” I said, smiling.

“Let’s see you two play a few rounds,” Evan said, nodding. “I’ll see if Red is changing his answer last minute or anything.”

“I never thought my rock paper scissors skills would be so dissected,” Red said.

“Go,” Evan said.

We played three rounds in a row, and each time, Red won quickly. He put paper over my rock, scissors for my paper, and rock when I had scissors.

“I’m telling you, there’s no way,” I said.

Evan was laughing his ass off while Red just shrugged.

“I guess that’s just one thing I’m insanely skilled at,” Red said. “I never thought I’d be considered such a champion at rock paper scissors.”

He played three rounds against Evan next, and easily won all three.
