Seyn got to his feet and smiled, clenching his trembling fingers into fists. “I’ve just remembered that I have other, more important matters that require my attention.” Throwing someone’s words back at them had never felt better.

Ksar gave him a withering look, waves of suppressed rage coming off him.

“What, you thought I was really gagging for your cock?” Seyn laughed, straightening to his full height and rolling his shoulders. “I’m a son of the Third Royal House. We don’t gag for anything or anyone. People gag for us.”

Smiling, he turned on his heel and headed toward the door.

He didn’t reach it.

He was yanked back, turned around, and slammed against the antique bookcase. Things fell to the floor and shattered, but all Seyn could see was the cold fury in Ksar’s eyes before Ksar’s mouth slammed against his throat, sucking a bruise into his skin.

A wave of need crashed into him with an urgency that made Seyn whine. He gasped, fisting Ksar’s hair and yanking him closer to his neck. He shivered as delicious waves of pleasure traveled from Ksar’s lips to his skin—pleasure and hunger, so much hunger it made him moan pitifully. He raked his fingers down Ksar’s back and slipped his hands under his shirt, wanting more, and finding it as his palms roved all over the smooth expanse of Ksar’s muscular back. The increased skin contact only heightened the hunger, making it overwhelming—and he ground against the little shit’s hip, wanting to fuck him up, screw him right there, against that door until Seyn was so full of his cock he could feel it against his heart.

“Is that what you want?” Seyn said breathlessly as Ksar abused his neck. “I’ll let you do it—If you break my bond to you.”

Ksar went utterly still.

And then he pulled back, his face hard as stone. Only his eyes were burning with some emotion Seyn couldn’t quite put a name to. Hatred? Disgust?

“Get out,” Ksar said flatly.

Looking at him uncertainly, Seyn touched the stinging skin of his neck. “Look—”

“Who would have thought,” Ksar said, redoing his fly and righting his clothes. His voice was cold as ice. “Who would have thought that a son of the Third Royal House would be willing to whore himself out to someone he claims to loathe.”

Seyn lifted his chin. “I offered it because I loathe you. I want to be free of you.”

Ksar looked at him for a long moment, his jaw locked tight.

“You want to be free of me? Fine.”

Seyn’s heart skipped a beat. “Really?”

Ksar turned away and walked to the open window. “Yes. If you’re that desperate, I will break your bond.”

Seyn eyed his back, not trusting him one bit. “Now?”

Ksar made a scoffing sound. “Your bond isn’t the only thing tying you to me. Your House signed a betrothal contract with mine. Dissolving our betrothal will be much harder than breaking the bond physically. I need time.”

Chewing on his lip, Seyn watched him suspiciously. “But you can break the bond now,” he pressed. “And we can work together on breaking the betrothal contract.”

Ksar turned around, his expression unimpressed. “You have no idea what you are asking for. You’ve had your bond since birth and you have no idea what it’s like to live without it. All your senses will become much better. You will give yourself away immediately.”

Seyn crossed his arms over his chest. “If Harry could manage not to give himself away, I can manage.”

“If my brother managed to hide it, it doesn’t mean you can. Harht’s a throwback. His physiology is different from yours, so there’s no telling what would happen to you. And his bond weakened gradually; it wasn’t forcibly removed. Not to mention that Harht is a very mild-tempered person. That’s likely the reason he didn’t give himself away.” Ksar’s lips curled into a sardonic smile. “Mild-tempered isn’t the word I would use to describe you. You would be a mess—a bigger mess than you already are.”

Seyn wasn’t fazed. He walked over to him. “I don’t care. As long as the bond to you is gone, I’ll be happy. I can handle it. Do it.”

For a long moment, Ksar just looked at him with a pinched expression on his face.

“Fine,” he said tersely. “But don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.”

He laid a hand on Seyn’s cheek and looked him in the eye.

Seyn swallowed.

“You didn’t need to touch Harry to restore his bond to Leylen,” he said, suppressing the urge to squirm away from the touch. Every time Ksar touched him, it made him feel…agitated.

“Harht’s bond had nothing to do with me,” Ksar said. “I wasn’t lying when I told you that performing such procedures on your own mind was harder. Now do be quiet for once. I need to focus.”

Seyn fell quiet, even though his heart felt like it was about to jump out of his chest. He couldn’t believe it was finally happening—that he was going to be rid of his hated bond and this awful man.
