“Then you won’t mind your punishment. Tomorrow, when you come into the firm, I want you in my office, ass on my desk. I’ll take care of the rest.” His statement is ominous, and now I know sleep will never come because I’ll be thinking about morning all freaking night.

“Kingston.” I drag out his name, legs rubbing together to gain some kind of friction to quench this need only he seems to create.

“None of that, temptress. It’s been three years of waiting. We can both wait a few more nights.” Something he admitted once we were settled outside, it seems Kingston can definitely remain celibate seeing as how he hasn’t been with anyone else since that moment in his home office. Believe me, I was apprehensive at first in believing him, but then I was on my knees, his hands fisted in my hair, and he was coming down my throat moments after I barely got started. It was incredible to have the power of The Kingston Thomas.

“Fine, but you’ll have to stop talking, or I’ll never calm down.” I hear the rustle of his own sheets as he moves, and now I’m kicking my own ass for taking the high road and coming home. God, I’m an idiot.

“Pretty sure if I quit talking to you, Tessa, we’ll have to get off the phone, and I’m not above bribing you talk to me for a little bit longer.” How do you say no to that? I mean sure, it’s going on midnight, tomorrow is going to come faster than ever, but not like I was getting any sleep before King’s call.

“Okay, I’ll stay on the phone a little longer. Tell me what you did while I’ve been away these three years?” Maybe if we keep it to the mundane things, it’ll keep my overactive mind and body from thinking about earlier tonight.

“You saw some of it. Been updating the house bit by bit. Working on the firm. That came faster than I anticipated but was a necessary evil when Mace walked in at the old firm and said he was done. The job wasn’t fun for me there. So, we pulled our funds together and went into business. It’s been bumpy to say the least, each of us pulling our weight even if we have no fucking idea what we’re doing at times. Speaking of, tomorrow, we have got to either outsource human resources or buckle down and find someone looking for a job in office.” Clearly, he and Mace bit off more than they could chew. I may simply be a paralegal, but I’m sure I can help them with this issue before it gets the best of them.

“I’d suggest outsourcing. There’s a maximum of ten people in office. I’m not sure if the cost of an employee in office makes sense. Plus, what will they do besides hiring, firing, ordering supplies, and the usual? I’m pretty sure that job could be done in a day or two a week, then you’ll be stuck giving out benefits that will cost way more than outsourcing,” I tell him honestly.

“You may be right. I’ll bring it up to Mace. His wife, Tyra, can always order the supplies, or one for us can take turns doing it bi-weekly.” He takes a moment before continuing. That’s one thing college has taught me. Before, I’d be so ready to fill in the gaps, talk until someone was ready to jump in. Patience is a great thing because when he talks, it’s with purpose. “Tell me about your time at college. Was it everything you hoped for?”

“I can handle ordering things. It shouldn’t take very long, especially since Tyra has the form ready and everything so organized. And college, it was hard work, probably not as hard as going to law school, but it still wasn’t easy. I kept myself busy and worked to keep from coming home every weekend. Being homesick is real. But I did it. Now I’m home and right where I want to be.” In more ways than one when it comes to Kingston. I don’t say that, though. A yawn escapes me at the end, and there is no hiding that from him.

“I’m glad you’re home, Tessa. While I loved having you for the night and on the phone, you’re tired. Get some sleep, temptress. You’re going to need it.”

“Thank you. The feeling is entirely mutual. See you tomorrow, Kingston.” My eyes are having a hard time staying open. Who knew King can dole out orgasms, talk about everyday life, and relax me so much that I’m falling asleep after coming off more highs than a girl could ever ask for?

“Night, Tessa, sleep well.” We hang up. My phone falls somewhere to the bed. I hope that Kingston hung up so I don’t have to worry about it, because sleep is overtaking my body.
