“Sure, follow me.”

Leo groaned and slumped back down on the sofa. “How is stuff at the club?” he asked Mike, who strolled around the living room as if he owned it, casually stroking his short blond beard when he stopped in front of Zolt’s sneaker collection. The facial hair did look good on him. Bastard.

“All’s well. We’re trying to come up with a strategy to smoke the Jackals out of our territory. Maybe we should just wait until they all get high and pack them up then,” he said, flashing Leo a grin.

“It’s not funny, Mike. Have there been any more shootouts?”

“One almost-shootout, but those cockroaches are getting too bold for my taste. If you ask me, the Exterminators can’t come for them soon enough.”

“Wait. So you’ve decided to call them in? When I was leaving, things were still up in the air.”

Mike nodded, and took the last marshmallow out of the packet Leo had left for later. Always stealing his shit as if he was entitled to it. “Yep, can’t wait any longer. It’s gonna be a clean, outsider job. Or dirty. Depends how you look at it. But how are things here? Zolt bothering you much?” he asked, parking his ass next to Leo’s. Too close to Leo’s for comfort, really.

Leo crossed his arms on his chest. “No, but it’s been over a month. Are we really too stuck to move the drugs? I do wish to get back to my job.”

Mike hooked his arm around Leo’s neck and leaned in, whispering into his ear. “That guy, he’s a sneaky bastard, and he’ll make a move on you when you’re drunk. You get me? Keep sober while you’re here, no matter how much he gets on your nerves.”

Leo’s ears went aflame, all the hairs on his body bristling. “What? Did he make a move on you?” he whispered breathlessly.

Mike grinned. “Are you joking? Of course he did. But hey, maybe you’re lucky to not be his type,” he said and patted Leo’s shoulder before leaning back with a sigh of contentment.

Leo couldn’t believe Mike’s casual attitude about this. Then again, Mike generally didn’t give a fuck about many things. “Thanks for the tip,” he groaned. “You might be right about the type thing though, he’s been err… gentlemanly about me staying here.” And yet it gave Leo satisfaction to think that he was in fact Zolt’s type. What that meant though was another matter, because Leo hadn’t fumbled drunkenly with Zolt one night. They slept together in one bed, they kissed, they flirted and Leo… well, he liked sex with Zolt. A man.

And he had no idea what to think about it now that talking to Mike confronted him with the fact that in the eyes of his friends and family, he was still straight.

“Maybe let’s just join them? I’ve seen all those knives. I can help Mona choose,” he said, rising from the sofa.

Mike followed his lead with a crooked grin. “Are you gonna sleep in double underwear now? Chill, he knows you’re part of the MC.”

Leo shook his head. “You’re pissing me off. I said it’s fine.”

“Don’t be so touchy. Wouldn’t blame you if you felt like experimenting,” Mike said but led the way into the shop, without waiting for Leo’s answer. Always had to have the fucking last word.

With the main entrance still closed, they were up for a private viewing. The shop drowned in the bright sunlight streaming through the windows, bringing back that perfect morning ruined by Zolt’s unwanted guests. But no matter how irritated Leo was, when Zolt looked back, half of his face dipped in the glow, Leo forgot how to breathe.

Had Zolt tried to get his hands on all his brothers, or just Mike?

Was Leo simply the only one who gave in? The discomfort of that thought made him avert his gaze as cramps tightened his stomach.

“Leo, come help me choose!” Mona gestured at him with a big smile.

“We need all your help, remember?” Rain raised her black eyebrows. “You said you wanted to talk to Mona first so I brought her over.”

Oh. So this was a setup to talk about the baby thing. Leo joined them by the weapons display, but his tongue got stuck in his throat.

“Now?” he asked, keeping his gaze on his sister and her wife rather than the two other men. When he’d said he wished to discuss the whole thing with Mona, he kind of assumed it would be in private.

Rain spread her arms. “I thought you’ve had enough time to think about it. Aren’t you happy we chose to ask you before anyone else?”

“Right? I’m mildly offended it wasn’t me. I told Mona she can have my spunk any day,” Mike said, but he seemed happy enough with himself as he approached the collection of knives hanging on the wall.
