I get lost in him. In the feel of his possessive hold on me. My mind can think of nothing but this man and the way he makes me feel. That is until I hear catcalls, whistles, and clapping. Archer pulls his lips from mine, and we both groan at the loss of contact. He then presses his forehead against mine.

“Didn’t like seeing you kiss my brothers,” he whispers.

“It meant nothing.” Not like the kiss he just gave me, but that’s not what we’re about. That’s not what I’m about, so I keep my mouth shut. I don’t want to say something in the heat of the moment that will hurt him and me in the end.

Placing my hands against his chest, I push back, putting some much-needed distance between us. A hand appears in front of me, and it’s Merrick. He offers me a bottle of beer, and I grab it, taking a long pull. I need to quench this desire. I need to rid myself of the taste of him.

Archer Kincaid just kissed the hell out of me.

That kiss… his kisses could change the world. I can’t help but wonder if he’s going to change mine.

CHAPTER

NINE

Archer

My chest is heaving with each breath that I pull into my lungs. My hands fall to my sides, and I clench my fists to keep from reaching for her. The thought of my brothers kissing her set my blood on fire, but witnessing it did something to me. Emotions I can’t name, don’t want to name, coursed through my veins, watching their lips on hers.

Thankfully, they both only gave her chaste kisses. It’s as if they knew that I had her first. Yeah, I’m aware that makes me sound like an asshole, but I can’t seem to find it inside me to give a flying fuck. Scarlett and I might only be sleeping together, but I don’t share. Even though it’s casual, I’ve shared enough in my life with eight brothers.

I don’t share women.

Ever.

I’m not about to start now.

“Hey, Scar,” Palmer says. Her voice is low and a little wobbly. “I think you chose just fine on your own.”

The table full of my brothers and their wives murmur their agreement.

“It’s the arm porn.” Scarlett shrugs, and the table once again falls into a fit of laughter.

“Hey, are you saying we don’t have sexy arms?” Maverick flexes his muscles. “Show them yours, Mer,” he tells his twin.

I stand with my hands still fisted at my sides, my breathing starting to slow as I watch my two youngest brothers flex their muscles as if they’re about to appear on TV for a WWE competition.

“I mean, that’s impressive,” Scarlett tells each of them. She even reaches out and squeezes each of their biceps, which has me grinding my teeth. “But this guy, he must eat his daily spinach.” She turns to look at me, and the mischief in her smile has me relaxing my fists.

“Pft,” Maverick scoffs.

“Go ahead, Arch, show us the guns,” Orrin calls out.

I shake my head and playfully roll my eyes. “I don’t need to flex,” I tell him, my eyes staying on Scarlett.

“I mean, you could,” she says, a light shade of pink coating her cheeks. “It would be a shame to deprive these lovely ladies and the rest of the Willow Tavern of seeing it.” She glances over her shoulder. “I’m sure you’ve seen it, but I think we need a display.” She turns back to face me. “I mean, your brothers showed me theirs.” She smirks because she knows that she has me.

“They’re my sisters,” I counter, crossing my arms over my chest.

Scarlett takes a step toward me and pokes my bicep. “Then do it for me,” she says softly.

“On one condition.”

“What’s that?” Her green eyes are filled with the same look she has when I’m thrusting inside her.

“You come home with me tonight.”

“I don’t know, Popeye. I’m pretty tired. It’s been a long week.”

I shrug. “That’s the deal.”

She sobers a little. “I really am exhausted, Archer.”

“Then you stay and sleep with me. In my bed. In my house. Those are my terms.” I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing, but I keep seeing my little brothers kiss her, and I need something to focus on. I need time with her to erase the scene from my head.

“You want me to come home with you so I can sleep?”

“Yep.”

“No funny business?” she asks.

She’s surprised, and so am I. We’re not dating. Hell, I’m not even trying to date her. I just know I don’t want to walk out of this damn bar without knowing I get more time with her tonight. “Nope.”

“Don’t give me lines and empty promises, Kincaid.”

“Never. I told you already. What you see is what you get. I have no reason to lie to you.”

“Fine. But if you go back on your word, you have to shave your head,” she blurts out.
