“You have nothing to worry about,” I tell him.

“You don’t have to do this,” Archer says. His voice is calm and quiet, but the look in his eyes tells me he’s not impressed with this… choosing system or whatever you want to call it.

I shrug. “It’s just a kiss. Or three.” I smile, glancing from him to the twins, then my eyes go to Ryder.

He holds up his hands. “She’s not here in this town or in this bar, but she’s here.” He places his hand over his heart.

I nod. “She’s a lucky girl.” I’m not just spewing sweet words. To know that he’s that devoted to his girl speaks volumes for the kind of man he is. I don’t know the entire story, but something tells me it’s more than complicated.

“Right, so, who’s going first?” Alyssa asks.

“Me,” Maverick and Merrick say at the same time, both raising their hands.

“Is that a freaky twin thing?” I ask, laughing at them.

“That’s a ‘you’re hot as hell’ thing,” Maverick answers.

“Merrick, Maverick, then Archer,” Crosby suggests. “Since that’s how the seating works out.”

“Done.” Merrick turns to face me. “You ready?”

I turn to look at Ramsey, ignoring Archer and the way his bulging arms are crossed over his chest as he glares at his younger brother. “Just a kiss?”

“Yep. We’ll gauge the chemistry and decide for you.”

I nod and turn back to Merrick. “Do your worst,” I tell him.

He gives me a wicked, sexy grin and leans in, pressing his lips to mine. It’s a chaste kiss as far as kisses go. He doesn’t even try to slip his tongue past my lips. He pulls back and winks. I’m not sure what to make of that, knowing the kiss was bland as far as kisses go.

“My turn,” Maverick says before I have a chance to try and decipher my interaction with Merrick. “Now, be prepared to be wowed,” he says before leaning in and kissing me. He presses his lips to mine, similar to his twin. Maverick’s kiss lasts a little longer, but it’s still tame at best. He pulls back, a boyish grin lighting up his face. He turns to look at Archer across the table. “Think you can top that, big bro?” he taunts.

Archer pushes back from the table. The sound of his chair legs scraping against the old hardwood floor echoes throughout the bar. Even with all the background noise, it still sounds almost like nails scraping against a chalkboard.

My eyes follow him as he stalks around the table. It’s not until he’s standing behind my chair that I pull my gaze from his and look around the table. All eyes are on us, and I know I’m not going to be able to hide my familiarity with him. I’m usually pretty good at pretending, but this man, this mountain of a man, the gentle giant that is Archer Kincaid, I can’t seem to hide how he affects me.

I feel his strong hands on my shoulders. He kneads the skin gently as if I’m his to touch freely. Tilting my head back, I smile at him. “I’m a sure thing, Kincaid.” His eyes darken, and I realize my words have a double meaning. At least to him. “I mean, you’re my last kiss, right?” I’m quick to add. I drop my head and stare straight ahead at where he used to be sitting. My palms are sweating, and my heart feels like it’s about to thump right out of my chest.

What is this? I don’t get nervous with men. Am I nervous? Is it anticipation? I think maybe a little of both. I know what it’s like to kiss this man, and my body remembers. I crave him.

“Stand up, Firecracker.” His deep voice is gravelly and so damn sexy.

The room fades away. All I can see is him. I think I hear someone ask about “firecracker,” but I can’t seem to focus on the words that are muffled. All I can see is him. Before I know what’s happening, Archer is pulling my chair away from the table.

My legs are shaking as I stand, and I offer him a wobbly smile as I peer up at him. One large hand slides beneath my hair, cupping the back of my neck, while the other grips my waist. My body hums with electric energy that passes between us.

“Do your worst, Popeye.” I drop his nickname. It’s a whisper, but I know his family is riveted to the show we’re putting on and won’t miss it.

No further words are exchanged as Archer dips his head and kisses me. At first, I think his big production was just to prove he affects me, but his tongue traces my lips, and I open for him, letting him take control, and he doesn’t disappoint. His tongue invades my mouth, and I savor the feel of his tongue sliding against mine. This has to be the hottest kiss of my life. I don’t know if it’s the audience or the way he has zero fucks to give as to the fact his family has a front row seat to him fucking my mouth. Whatever the case, my panties are ruined, and my poor heart is beating so fast I’m not sure it will ever recover.
