I walk right through the main entrance.

No one cares or thinks twice about me. Why would they?

I show the hotel room key as soon as I step inside. Then head through the lobby to the elevator.

By the time I get to Asher's room the lock is holding the suite's door open so I don't even have to use the key.

I slide in and shut the door. He's right in the foyer - alone, waiting for me.

He approaches, nearly pinning me against the wood door, making my heart race.

"Just locking it," he whispers, sliding the metal hook in place.

I swallow hard.

He moves away.

"Um," I clear my throat. "I'm a night showerer, so if I'm going to stay-"

"Perfect," he breaks into a wide grin. "Take your clothes off."

God he doesn't make this easy.

"I'm going to shower," I inform. "Alone."

He narrows his stare.

"Fine." With a huff he shakes his head and disappears, returning a few seconds later with a white tee. "Here." He holds it out. "I'll have your clothes dry cleaned and ready in the morning. Undergarments too."

I take the shirt from him.

"Wait, this is just a shirt."

No boxers or shorts. Nothing for me to wear underneath.

"I know." He smirks, rolling his eyes at my annoyed expression. "Oh come on. It's long enough. You know I'm kidding. I promised to be good and I will. We'll order food, watch a movie, and then go to sleep. I know for a fact you told me you've shared a bed with Jess before. This will be just like that."

"This is nothing like that." I storm off towards the bathroom and shut the door.

The couch in the living room is comfortable. The small table covered with plates that only contain crumbs.

Cakes and pies. Ice cream. We devoured it all, and only an hour after we cleared the dishes that still sit on the table in the dinning room.

The movie's credits roll. It's getting late.

I hate how much I liked this evening.

Truth is, as much as I've come to loathe a certain word when it pertains to Asher, he’s right. We are friends. We laugh and joke. We talk and have fun. It's nice spending time together. In fact, I can't remember the last time I had a good time when he wasn't involved.

"Well I'm off to bed," he stands, and even though he doesn't wait for me, I follow.

He heads straight to the bathroom. The one that's attached to the suite's bedroom.

I've never been in Asher's bedroom before. Not that this is his bedroom, but whatever. He sleeps here.

He leaves the bathroom door open. I prop myself against the frame. He's brushing his teeth with an amused sort of gleam, his things everywhere.

Asher's stuff.

With a knowing smirk of my own I step inside and start doing the same. He offers me his toothpaste. I take it before stopping in front of the other sink. He had a toothbrush brought up for me earlier. The knock on the door came no more than five minutes after he hung up, and the man apologized for taking so long.

He shuts the water first.

"Night," he grins, walking out.

I finish soon after, but before I go I take a moment and stare in the mirror.

I'm about to get into bed with Asher Montgomery.

I don't think there's any way to prepare myself.

Back in the bedroom, the light that sits over the side I'm supposed to sleep is left on.

Everything else is off.

I climb under the covers and shut it.

I left the bathroom light on but shut the door, allowing just enough brightness to shine underneath. It's enough to make out little things, like his shadow, and how he's staring at me out of the corner of his eye.

I try to relax.

The room holds that usual hotel chill. I lay back and rest my head on the pillow. It's luxurious. Melt-on-a-cloud comfortable.

"Mind your side, New York." I hear the tease in his voice.

"Funny."

"Okay," he swallows, and at the same time we turn on our sides to face each other. "Don’t get your knickers in a twist, but are you sure we-"

"Do you really think I’m that easy?"

"No," he chuckles. "If you were that easy I’d have fucked you back in Barbados."

"Cute."

"I am a tad curious, though," he bites his bottom lip. It's sexy as hell. "Why can you have sex with that dipshit of a boyfriend but not me?"

"Ex-boyfriend," I mumble, correcting him, all while realizing he has a point. Of course I'll never admit that out loud.

"Oh fuck," he says, like something just dawned on him. "You’re self-conscious."

"I mean, of course!" I roll my eyes.

"You know I already saw your ass."

He's referring to when I sat on the couch for the movie and the stupid shirt came up. I was quick to fix it, but apparently not fast enough.

"You said you weren’t looking!"
