Could this be what our Catch of the Season has been hiding? A rekindled love? Oh, I do love a good second-chance romance! Could this be another Adelaide and Gannon Wilson story? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Although, Braxton was also seen leaving Harlee Tilson’s house last night. Our Catch of the Season has been a busy boy, it seems, bouncing from one to another. Let me lean in a little close and whisper: Are we surprised by this? I think not. Maybe he isn’t such a great catch, after all.

My ear will be to the sand. Stay tuned, my fishes!

Fair winds and following seas!

I couldn’t help it. I laughed.

“You think it’s funny? Dude, she’s all but calling you a manwhore.”

Shrugging, I tossed the paper down and took a long sip of my now nearly cold coffee. “What do I care what she thinks? I’ll find out who she is soon enough and reveal her to the entire town.”

Thomas grabbed a chair, spun it around, and straddled it. “Dude, you know…if you’re interested in Harlee, we’ve been over for a long time. As a matter of fact, we never actually connected. I mean, she’s fun and all, but it was pretty clear she wasn’t interested in settling down. Plus, she’s a little too adventurous in the bedroom for me.”

I nearly crushed the coffee cup in my hand, picturing Thomas sleeping with Harlee. I cleared my throat to keep the anger out of my voice. “What do you mean? Like, she’s into kinky shit?”

He shook his head. “Nah. She asked me once to use a vibrator on her before we had sex, but it felt weird. I mean, don’t they use those when they’re alone? Why would I want to use one on a woman when I could do the same thing with less work?”

I stared at him. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to punch the living hell out of him, or explain that he was a stupid motherfucker.

“Dude, you need to work on your foreplay. Have you never played with a woman like that before, vibrator or not?” I asked.

“No,” he said, laughing as if I’d asked a stupid question. “Have you?”

Again, I stared at him for a hot second. No wonder he’d had so few girlfriends throughout the years. “Hell yes! It’s a fucking turn-on, watching them squirm on the bed while you tease them with a vibrator. Better yet, bringing a woman almost to orgasm, then denying her, only makes it that much greater when she comes with you inside her. You’re missing out.”

He seemed unsure. “What if she ends up liking that better than you?”

Why did it feel like I was talking to a high school kid about to lose his virginity? “If a woman would rather be fucked by a vibrator instead of your dick, then you’re doing something wrong, dude.”

He rubbed at the back of his neck and nodded. In all the years I’d known Thomas, I’d never really heard him talk about sex. Was he really not confident in the bedroom? Hell, if that was the case, he needed to go talk to someone—and it sure as hell wasn’t going to be me. I quickly changed the subject.

“I’m thinking of taking off next week and heading up to St. George River. Do some fly fishing.”

Thomas smiled. Of course, that would get him going. Fish. “Sounds like a good time. You going alone?”

“I’m not sure. I might have a client who’s interested in learning how to fly fish. They’ve never done it before.”

He laughed. “So you thought it would be a good idea to take them in the dead of fucking winter?”

“I’ve caught some of my largest fish in the winter. No crowds. It’s peaceful.”

“The fish are slow as shit cause they’re freezing their asses off…just like you’ll be.”

I ignored him. “This person wants to learn to fly fish, so an empty river would be perfect.”

“Brax, you’re going to make them hate the sport. Why not wait until spring?”

Without looking at him, I stood and grabbed my coffee cup and headed toward the kitchen. “I have my reasons.”

He laughed. “In other words, you don’t like him.”

“Not true. They simply need to be taught a lesson or two, that’s all.”

THE SEASIDE CHRONICLES

FRIDAY’S CATCH

Dear Anglers,

I’ve been given an amazing opportunity to do a column about fishing in our local waters and whatever else I’d like to write about. Now, I will admit that I may or may not use this space to occasionally respond to a certain person—Ms. Seaside—who’s become obsessed with me. I’m not really sure why she’s so interested in my ‘colorful’ life, but if it makes her happy to write about me, then who am I to stop her?

I’d like to first address the ex. Nothing is going on there, and nothing will, so she can stop sticking her nose in that particular tackle box. And my night at the Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast was indeed a very pleasant stay, but not for the reasons Ms. Seaside thinks. I had a great time catching up with an old friend and eating some amazing food. I even enjoyed a late-night snack. I will say, the snack was my favorite part of the stay.
