Ahh, fuck. I hope Zade and the boys know what they’re doing because if even one hair on her head is hurt tonight, I’m going to be pissed.

Matthias slips out of the room, leaving the door wide open as I dangle in the darkness, quickly growing bored. “Hey,” I call out to the men dashing past my dungeon cell.

One of them stops, peering in, his brows furrowed. “Me?”

“Yeah you,” I say. “Come here.”

He scoffs and goes to hurry away when I call after him again. “Just wanted to let you know that I fucked your wife last week,” I say, taking a shot in the dark. “She told me all about you while I bent her over and took her right there on your bed. But fuck, man. She goes wild. I think I’ll go back for more.”

The man stops and whips back around, his jaw clenched. Clearly I’ve struck a nerve. After all, the divorce rate in America is nearly fifty percent, with a good chunk of those being due to infidelity. If it didn’t work on this asshole, it was bound to on the next.

He takes a swing at me, and I welcome it with open arms . . . figuratively. My arms are well and truly stuck above my head. I’m pleased to find this guy has a decent swing on him, and I let him get a few more hits in before getting the show on the road.

My legs whip up, my knee hooking right around his neck and coming down hard, snapping it in one fell swoop. The guard’s body drops heavily to the ground, and I groan, needing to roll him with my feet to get access to the gun at his belt.

Getting him right where I need him, I shimmy the gun out of the holster with my foot before using my other to find purchase on it. I take a breath, and with that, I bring my feet right up until I’m hanging upside down on the chains, like a kid on the playground, my feet and the gun up by my hands.

I grunt and groan, not exactly as flexible as I need to be to do this, but I’m gonna have to give it the good old college try. Straining to reach, I keep pushing myself until I finally feel the cool metal of the gun pressing into my palm.

I clutch onto it before letting my body dangle back down, the guard’s body acting as leverage for me to stand on, taking the weight off my shoulder. Then not wanting to waste another second when Oakley is out there somewhere, I raise the gun to the rock ceiling and get to work, shooting out the chains. The sound is deafening in this underground dungeon, but damn, it’s effective.

Shooting out the links in the heavy chains, I finally come free from the ceiling, the majority of the chains still bound to my wrists, but until I can find a metal grinder, I’m going to have to get used to them. Hell, I might be able to use them to my advantage.

Balling up the chains in either hand, I break free of the room and race out into the long corridor, following the sound of the alarm, taking me in the opposite direction from where we found Oakley last night. Though after spending nearly an hour searching for Venom down here, I consider myself pretty fucking familiar with the layout.

Considering this is some kind of ambush, I can only assume they’re going to need a large space to pull it off, and I hurry up the long corridor, winding my way back toward the top and out through the back entrance.

This compound is massive, the underground system like a fortress while the above-ground part of it expands for miles. I can only wonder if this property belongs to Empire, forgotten land that only a handful have known about because there’s no way Matthias would have had the means, the man power, or the funds to have built all of this himself.

Slipping out through the back, I expect to find Matthias’s army with Zade and Oakley in a chokehold, backed into a fucking corner, but instead, I look around in awe, finding Matthias’s army huddled in the center of the courtyard, their guns abandoned on the ground.

Each of them kneels with their hands raised in surrender, and I follow their gazes up to the roof of the compound, finding my girl and my brothers running this fucking show. But what makes it even better is the way Zade holds Matthias in front of him, on his knees with a gun pressed firmly at his temple. Though it doesn’t go unnoticed how none of those bastards thought to come and help me.

I can’t help but laugh, and all eyes turn to me. “Where the hell have you been?” Oakley demands, her gaze raking over me. “We’ve been waiting forever for your bitch ass to show up.”
