It takes constant effort, but I manage to keep my mind on what I’m doing, mostly. The classes are a great way to deep-dive into something besides memories of my recent dates and my body’s demands for more action—and soon.

Is my date tonight with Gray canceled since we went out last night, or are we seeing each other again? On the one hand, I very much want to see him again, but on the other hand, it feels like throwing gasoline on a fire. Am I completely ready for what will happen if we pick up where we left off?

I’m not certain I am, so it’s probably better if Gray and I have a break. A teeny-tiny break.

“Ava?”

Blinking, I bring myself back to my surroundings. One of today’s students, who’s also a kindly church member, is looking at me expectantly.

“I’m sorry, I was woolgathering for a moment there. Could you please repeat the question?”

“I wondered if I’m doing this increase correctly.”

“Let me see.” I hurry to her side. “Okay, you’ll want to do two stitches here.” I point to the spot and watch her as she does it. “Yes, just like that. And you’ll want to do the same thing at the end of the next row.”

“Thanks. Are you okay? You seem a bit distracted today.”

I smile. “Yes, I’m okay, thanks. I just had a decision to make, and my mind wandered off.”

“All decided now?”

“I think so.” I smile again and retreat to my chair on the other side of the table, looking around to make sure that all the other students are engaged with their projects.

They are, and my mind immediately sidetracks back to my dating life. Wanting more of the physical isn’t wrong—I’m sure of it, no matter what I’ve been taught—but dating three men makes it much more complicated.

What am I going to do when it’s finally time to lose my virginity?

Only one of them can technically be my first, and I can’t imagine how I would choose, or how I would tell them my choice. Letting things happen with one of them would be a choice, and I’m getting closer and closer to wanting to let things happen. But how would the other two feel?

I’ve been having so much fun dating the three of them, and ignoring the hazards, but now they’re staring me in the face.

No matter which one I choose—to be with for the first time, or to be with longer term—I’ll be rejecting two of them. Sending them away.

The thought makes my stomach hurt.

I don’t want to send any of them away. But I’m not Lexy. I can’t just keep dating three men forever.

It’s a struggle to keep my mind on the class. Fortunately, it’s at the close of my work day, and after it’s over, I’m able to slip away.

At home, I fix myself a cup of chamomile tea, put on my PJs, and resign myself to a lonely evening. Before, I would call Erik to see if he wanted to keep me company, but now it feels unfair to Brax and Gray if I let Erik spend more time with me than they do.

Still, when my doorbell rings, I jump up and run to the door, because who else could it be? Sure enough, I see him through the peephole and fling the door open, ready to ask about takeout and movie choices.

My greeting vanishes when I see Brax and Gray there, too. “What’s going on?”

“We have a surprise for you.” Erik looks like the cat who ate the cream.

Laughing, I tilt my head, trying to peer around Erik’s large frame to see what’s behind him. “What is it?”

“It’s the kind of surprise you need to let us in for,” Brax says from behind him.

Part of me wants to tease them some more, but the rest of me is too curious, and besides, it could raise questions if my neighbors see three big men standing outside my apartment. “Come in, then.” I stand aside and hold the door open.

Whatever I was expecting, it’s not for Brax and Gray to wheel in a cart, the kind used for shopping at home supply stores, with several large boxes on it. “What is this?”

“You’ll just have to wait and see.” Erik’s grin tells me he’s having way too much fun with this.

I close the door behind them and survey the space. My apartment, which has always been plenty for my needs, suddenly feels tiny with three huge men in it.

Huge, gorgeous men.

Ignoring the sudden need to run off to my bedroom and lock the door so I can touch myself, or maybe take a long, hot shower, I say, “Well, as long as you’re all here, the least I can do is feed you. What’s everyone in the mood for?”

We quickly decide on Thai, and all three men immediately pull out their wallets. I turn away from them as I tap our order into the app. “Nope. It’s on me this time. Besides, my card’s already stored in here.”
