The band has been on an unofficial hiatus since they returned, and no decisions have been made about when they’ll be releasing their next album or scheduling their next tour. A lot has happened, but through it all, we’ve remained strong, united, and I love him more now than I did before. So as he looks at me, waiting for me to speak, there’s really only one answer to give him.

“Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you.”

A beautiful smile splits his face, and he stands, pulling me into his arms and lifting me off the ground, kissing me hard and passionately. When he sets me down, he takes my left hand in his and slides the infinity promise ring off my finger, replacing it with the engagement ring. The platinum band has two encrusted infinity symbols intertwined around one another, framing the circle diamond on top.

Once the ring is safely on my finger, Braxton’s mouth descends on mine, kissing me reverently, passionately, silently telling me how much he loves and wants me. He lifts me, my legs encircling his waist, and carries me to our bed—I never get sick of saying that—then he lays me on the center of the mattress.

Our mouths stay connected, kissing, caressing. Our tongues swirl and dance together. We only break apart long enough to shed our clothes, and then we’re back to kissing, touching, feeling.

I love how Braxton tastes sweet with a hint of warmth. The way he smells fresh and masculine from the mixture of the cologne I bought him all those years ago and his own scent. I’m obsessed with the way he feels hard and smooth. But what I love the most is the way he fits perfectly with me. The way, as he spreads my legs and enters me, our bodies connect and align as if we were made for each other.

And I truly believe we were. Braxton is my soul mate, my other half. The yin to my yang, one-half of the infinity symbol in our forever. He makes love to me, devouring me, stroking me, working me up, up, up until I’m falling off the ledge and taking him with me.

When we’ve both come down from our high, he doesn’t let me go clean up. He pulls me into his arms and holds me tightly, kissing me, massaging me, loving me. We stay like this for several minutes, reveling in the silence and the peace we bring each other.

“I don’t want to wait,” he says when he finally speaks. “Do you want a big wedding?” I know if I say yes, Braxton will ensure I have the wedding of my dreams, but the truth is, I have no desire for a huge wedding.

“Nope, I don’t even care about a wedding. I just want to be yours as soon as possible.”

He nods in agreement, his eyes sparkling in excitement. “Then it’s settled. Tomorrow, we’re applying for a marriage license, and as soon as we’re allowed, we’re saying I do.”

Butterflies attack my belly at the thought that Braxton could be my husband by the end of the week. “That sounds perfect.”

He rolls me onto my back and kisses me softly. “I can’t wait to make you mine.”

“I’m already yours... I’ve always been.”

He kisses me again, this time harder, deeper, and that’s all it takes for us to get lost in each other once again—in the beautiful, silent chaos of our love.

“I’m going to post a totally cliché picture of my ring,” I warn Braxton as we walk to the kitchen, both of us showered and somewhat dressed. Hours of sex have left us starving, so we agreed to eat before continuing our engagement celebration.

“Nothing cliché about telling the world you’re going to be legally mine,” he says with a laugh, playfully smacking my ass.

I grab my phone from the counter and am about to pull up the camera app when I notice several missed calls and texts. Something must’ve happened.

“Hey, Brax,” I say, my heart in my stomach. “Did you get...?”

Before I can finish my question, a voice speaks from his phone. I don’t know if it’s a voicemail or what, until the woman says, “This is Evelyn from Hollywood Gossip...” And then I know he’s watching or listening to something. “According to our sources, Gage Sharpe, the drummer for Raging Chaos, was brought in to New York Medical after he was found in his home unconscious. While we don’t know the specifics, our—”

Braxton cuts off the video and dials someone, putting it on speakerphone. “Is he okay?” he asks, not giving whoever is on the other end a chance to even say hello.

“I don’t know...” It’s Declan. “They’re not telling me anything, but it’s not good, man. I think... I think he tried to kill himself.”
