“Nope. How about you? Make it to Paris yet?” They’ve been on several tours, some taking them to other countries, so it would make sense.

“Not yet.” He glances down at my open suitcase. “Stay on the tour. Come to Florida with us.”

“You going to ride all the rides with me?” I half joke.

“Yeah, I will,” he says seriously.

“Brax,” I breathe. “What does—?”

“I don’t know, Kaylee.” He cuts me off, knowing what my question is without me finishing it. “I don’t fucking know what anything means anymore. All I know is, when Camden said you were leaving, I had to stop you. I don’t know what that means or where we stand, but I’m not ready for you to leave this tour yet. So I’m asking you to stay.”

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

BRAXTON

I asked her to stay, and she said yes. I don’t know why I did it. I’ve spent weeks wanting her off our tour, and when Camden said she was leaving, I should’ve felt relieved. Instead, my heart pounded against my rib cage, and without thinking, I went in search of her. I wasn’t sure what the hell I was going to say until I saw her standing on the bus, packing her shit, and then the words just slipped out.

Maybe it was finding out that she never cheated, or seeing her wearing my goddamn ring around her neck, or perhaps it was admitting out loud that I haven’t had sex since she came back into my life. It could be a combination of all of the above—but I just couldn’t let her go... not yet.

“You asked her to stay?” Camden asks, dropping into the seat next to me. We’ve just finished our show in Tulsa and are about to leave for Atlanta, where we’ve got two back-to-back shows before we head to Florida. “She said you asked her to stay.”

“She didn’t cheat on me.”

His gaze swings over to me, and I notice Declan glances up from the magazine he’s reading. Gage is passed the fuck out from whatever he’s on, but he already knows since I told him the other night while we were at the bar getting drunk.

“What do you mean?” Declan asks.

“She lied to push me away. My dad told her if she didn’t let me go, she’d be the reason for my future being fucked, and she knew the only way I’d walk away was if she did something fucked up. So she staged it all.”

Declan whistles, and Camden curses under his breath. For the past six years, I’ve made a damn career out of hating Kaylee because of what I thought she did. And yeah, I’m mad as fuck that she lied, but without her having cheated, it’s making it really hard to hate her the way I did.

“So what now?”

“No clue.” I drop my head back and scrub my eyes. I’m so damn tired. I hate being on tour, and I’ve spent years fucking and drinking my way through my heartbreak. And now, to find out it’s not true. It’s like my life, my anger, was all based on a lie.

“You know she still loves you, right?” Declan says.

“Doesn’t matter. It’s not enough. She pushed me away, and we can’t go back. Too much has happened.” I slam my fist into the sofa. “I’m just so pissed. She fucked it all up... and for what? Nothing!”

“For us,” Camden says. “For Raging Chaos. We wouldn’t be the same without you.”

I appreciate his words, but... “I’m not the same without her.”

Camden’s gaze follows over my shoulder, and when I glance back, I find Kaylee standing in the doorway. Based on the look on her face, she heard what was said.

“And I’m not the same without you,” she whispers, her tear-filled eyes meeting mine. It’s at that moment that nothing else matters. Not our past or the present, or whatever the fuck the future holds. Nothing else matters but Kaylee and me. I need her in ways I’ve never needed anyone. From the moment she kissed me on the beach, she’s owned every part of me—mind, body, and heart. Our souls are entwined. And when she pushed me away, I might’ve gotten on that plane without looking back, but my heart and soul stayed with her.

“I, um...” She clears her throat. “I have your schedules,” she says, walking over with papers in her hands. She gives Declan his, then Camden. She leaves Gage’s next to him. When she steps close to me, extending her hand, I catch a whiff of that sweet, intoxicating rose scent, and something in me snaps, just fucking snaps.

Without thinking, I grasp her waist, throw her over my shoulder, and stalk back to the main bedroom in the back of the bus. I ignore Declan and Camden laughing as I slam the door closed and then drop Kaylee onto the center of the king-sized bed.
