“Tonight’s our last night,” I tell her, taking a shot of the whiskey we’re drinking. Tomorrow, we’ll be heading to another state, another city, singing at another show. It all kind of blends after a while.

“We should play a game!” her blond friend says.

“Oh, yeah!” her other friend—this one brunette—adds. “How about Never Have I Ever?”

“Isn’t that the shit teenagers play in high school?” I ask, praying to fucking God these women are not in high school.

“Yeah, so? It’ll be fun,” Alyssa says. “And if you’re a good boy, I’ll let you take your shots off my body.” When she says that, my eyes drag down said body, and I can’t help but compare her to Kaylee. Where Kaylee is all real, from her blond hair to her pert tits, Alyssa is all fake. She’s the type of woman I usually go for, but now, as I take in her burnt tan, bleached hair, and caked-on makeup, which is doing nothing for me, I can’t help but wonder if I go for women like her because she’s the complete opposite of Kaylee—perfectly real. And then I shake myself from my thoughts because the last person I should be thinking about is Kaylee. She might look real, but she’s a damn cheater, which makes her fake as hell.

“We need more liquor,” the brunette says with a pout, holding up the almost empty bottle.

“I’ll go grab one,” Gage offers, taking a hit of his joint and then snuffing it out.

“Actually, I’ll send for a bottle,” I suggest, already grabbing my phone to call the woman who’s at our beck and call.

Gage does his version of an eye roll but doesn’t argue. Instead, he relights his joint. My friends might hate the shit I’m doing to Kaylee, but they’re loyal enough to keep their mouths shut—except apparently Declan, who seems to be trying to play mediator. But after the show tonight, I imagine he’ll have gotten the hint—that I have no desire to ever forgive Kaylee for what she did—and will hopefully leave it alone.

“Hello?” Kaylee says breathily when she answers the phone.

“You asleep?” I ask, hoping I woke her ass up.

“No.” She clears her throat. “How can I help you, Brax?”

I pause, wondering if she’s been crying and if it’s because of the song I sang about her. And for a brief second, I almost consider asking her if she’s okay. But then I remember why I sang the song I did and nix that thought.

“We need a bottle of whiskey brought to our room.”

While we wait for the new bottle, the girls start the game with the bottle we already have, mentioning stupid-ass shit like, “Never have I ever kissed a girl” and “Never have I ever had a threesome,” all three of them giggling and drinking as they admit they’ve done each sexual thing.

When there’s a knock on the door, I yell for Kaylee to come in instead of getting up since she has a key to our room. She walks in, dressed in a loose T-shirt and a pair of yoga pants that show off her curves.

“Here you go,” she says, thrusting the bottle toward me. One look at her, and I can see she’s been crying. Her eyes are puffy and red, and her cheeks are tinged with tear stains. My natural inclination is to pull her into my arms and hold her close. I always hated when she’d cry. But I don’t because she doesn’t deserve it. She deserves every single tear she sheds and much more.

“Stay,” I suggest when I take the bottle. “Have a drink with us.”

She scoffs. “I’m good.”

“We’re playing a game,” Blondie says, oblivious to the tension Kaylee brought with her into the room. “Never Have I Ever... Heard of it?”

Kaylee’s brow furrows. “The high school game?”

“Yep,” I say, opening the bottle and pouring her a shot. “Whose turn is it?” I glance around. “You know what, I’ll go.” My eyes lock on hers. “Let’s see...” I think for a second before the perfect one comes to me. “I got it. Never have I ever...cheated on the person I claimed to love.”

“Oh, no, I’ve never done that,” one of the women says.

“Real fucking mature,” Kaylee hisses.

“Drink up, sweetheart.” I smirk. “Hell, maybe you should have two shots for that one.”

Kaylee throws the shot in my face and stalks out, slamming the door behind her.

“How long are you going to punish her for?” Gage asks as soon as she’s gone.

“Until she’s hurting as much as she hurt me.”

“I’m taking Kaylee with me tonight,” Gage says, shocking the hell out of me. We’re back in Vegas at the MGM Grand for the award show since we’ve been nominated for several awards and are performing.

“She’s the help. You can’t find a fucking date?”

“I can.” He shrugs. “I’m choosing to take her.”
