Hack woke up with a groan.

Crap. Had he fallen asleep at work? He hated when he did that but sometimes it was better than trying to drive home. Looking around, though, he soon realized he wasn’t at the hospital. He was in a hotel room.

And a gorgeous girl was sitting on the bed in front of him, sketching on her pad.

“Good morning,” she whispered.

“Hey.” He stretched with his arms above his head, his back popping. “Shit.”

“I’m so sorry.”

“Why’re you sorry, Snookums?”

She wrinkled her nose. “Because you had to sleep on a chair because of me.”

“I’ve slept in worse places, believe me.”

“Still, you had a perfectly nice bed and you slept in that uncomfortable chair. How many times did I wake you up?”

He wasn’t sure he should tell her that.

“Hack,” she said sternly.

He raised his eyebrows in surprise and she blushed.

“I was channeling your Dom voice.”

“I can tell. After the third time you cried out, I decided to stay in here. If I’m touching you, the nightmares don’t seem to come.”

“Oh.”

He peeked at her sketchpad. Shock and awe filled him. “Wow, that is amazing, Greer.”

She shrugged, looking embarrassed. “I guess so. I just dabble around.”

“I think Sav once said you work as a graphic designer?”

“Oh, yeah. Doing mainly websites. This is just a hobby.”

“You could do it as a career.”

“Thank you.”

“Do you like being a graphic designer?” he asked.

She shrugged. “It pays the bills, I guess. Well, mostly. But usually, when I need something, the universe provides.”

“It does? How?”

“Oh, you know . . . like when you’re out of groceries and you win a voucher in a competition online or something like that.”

He frowned as he thought that over. The universe had never really provided for him like that. He moved to the curtains and drew one back. Snowing again. But he wasn’t taking her out in this.

“Well, how do you feel about some more movies?” He turned back to find her looking worried.

“We’re staying another night?”

“Yeah, baby.”

“Because of me?”

“Hey. I’ve got no complaints about another night in a hotel room.”

“I’m so sorry. I feel like such a burden. And you must want to get home.”

He started singing.

“No! Nooo!” she cried, putting her hands over her ears as she started laughing. “I get it! I’m not a burden!”

He stopped. “Now, that we’re clear, I’m going to go take a shower and when I get back, you need to choose a movie. Understand me?”

“Thanks, Hack,” she whispered.

“My pleasure, Butternut.”

Her groan followed him into his room, and he grinned. He rather liked the name Butternut.

Greer moved to the small fridge to pull out the food Hack bought yesterday. Wow, there was enough here to feed six people.

Although they might be eating this all day if the storm continued.

Don’t think about that.

There was a plate and a small knife in the cupboard. She used the knife to start slicing through the packaging.

Ouch! Shoot!

With a hiss at the sharp pain, she brought her finger up to her mouth and sucked on it. How the heck did she slice her finger?

Hack walked back into her room wearing a pair of gray sweatpants and a tight, white T-shirt. Her finger fell from her mouth as her jaw dropped.

Hubba hubba.

Oops. Had she really just thought that? How embarrassing.

At least you didn’t say it out loud.

That would have been horrifying.

“Did you just say hubba hubba?” he asked.

Dear Lord.

Had she? Holy heck. How did she get out of this one?

“Umm. I . . . uh . . . maybe?”

“I’m hubba hubba?”

“Do you know what gray sweatpants do to a girl? And combined with a white, tight, T-shirt? You could make a fortune as a book cover model.”

“I could? Is that a compliment?”

“The biggest.”

“Then thank you.”

“Can we just forget that I ever said hubba hubba out loud?” she asked. “I’m so embarrassed.”

“You’re talking to the guy that had to wash glitter off his dick yesterday. I don’t think you have anything to be embarrassed about.”

Her eyes widened. “You . . . you didn’t?”

“Would I joke about something like that?”

The burst of laughter caught her by surprise. But then, it overtook her until she was bent over, laughing so hard that tears came from her eyes.

When she stood, he had his arms crossed over his muscular chest. His biceps were bulging against the tight white material and she took in the tattoos that covered his forearms and the bits of his chest revealed by the T-shirt.

So. Hot.

She was gone. She’d completely melted. For him.

He raised his eyebrows. Then he touched the corner of his mouth. “You’ve got a little bit of drool. Right here.”

She didn’t. She swiped at her mouth, and it was his turn to burst into laughter.

Oh, that rotten bastard.

She slammed her hands down on her hips. “That was so mean.”

“Admit it, you were drooling over me.”

“Well, who wouldn’t? You’re freaking gorgeous. Those tattoos and muscles and gray sweatpants and . . . you’re also kind and protective and who else would help take care of a stranger like you have! Is it any wonder I’m nearly drooling? Although I didn’t actually drool,” she muttered.
