“Is this position on your list?” Avery pushed his ass up, voice all hopeful.

“It is now.” Laughing, I peppered his neck with kisses until he wriggled free and flipped us so he was straddling me again. “And adding this one too.”

“Hmmm.” He made a thoughtful noise as he bit his lip. “We might need to fuck more than once. Test things out.”

“Told you. Research is sexy. If the first time is weird or awkward, we try something else until we find what does work for you.”

“You. You work for me.” Leaning down, he kissed me slow and sexy, mouth tasting like expensive wine and cheap fun, skin sweaty from the wrestling match, fingers gentle on my beard. Breaking the kiss, he whispered in my ear, “Flip me again. One more time. Maybe I want you to win tonight.”

“How about we both win?” I asked as I pinned him securely under me, undoing his belt and fly one-handed.

“I’m in favor of that plan.” He ended on a breathless little moan, and that was the last either of us talked for quite a while, me hoping the whole time that we both could keep winning, again and again. Avery made life more fun than a big lotto score. Wrestling as foreplay? Research into sex positions? Secret purchases? Bring it all on.

Chapter Twenty-One

Avery

“Snow day. In March!” I crowed as I bounced in the center of our bed. Funny how the second bed in our hotel room was now a convenient spot for storing my arm, clothes, and food, but I’d given up thinking of it as mine at least a week prior. “Keely just texted. The whole shoot is taking the day off. It’s coming down too hard for safe filming, especially for any cast or crew who need to drive in. So it’s a snow day for us!”

“You are such a California kid at heart.” Setting aside his phone, Malik tugged me down next to him. “Trust me, I had enough snow days as a kid on the East Coast to last a lifetime.”

“Oh, I’m sure I had a couple when I was really little before we ended up in California. My dad even played in Thanksgiving snow once. But I like the novelty of a whole day to goof off and be bored. Didn’t get many of those in the navy.”

“Something tells me you won’t be bored long.” Malik’s eyes turned mischievous before he laughed. He smiled and laughed so much more in Colorado, and I liked thinking I was part of the reason why. “Bet I can find you a documentary to watch. Or Keely’s message said there are board games in the motel office.”

“Board games.” I snorted. “Those all have complicated rules and fiddly little pieces. It was hard enough learning how to do video games one-handed. Nah. I’ve got a way better idea.”

“I’m sure you do.” Expression all heated, Malik lifted the covers. “Feel free to go on a scavenger hunt. See what you can find to keep busy.”

“Tempting. So tempting.” I half-laughed, half-groaned because this was exactly what had happened the last few days. I’d get ready to make a certain suggestion, and then we’d end up fooling around in one of the many, many awesome ways we already had for getting off. “But this is our chance, Lieutenant Don’t Rush Me and Let’s Take Our Time.”

“You mean…?” Funny how now Malik was the one who seemed to have trouble saying the words. And he’d gone from delightfully silly to serious. God, I hoped he was still into this idea.

“You picked up the stuff, remember? The to-fuck list?” I glanced at the pharmacy bag on the nightstand.

“I did indeed, Petty Officer Impatient. And I was going to offer to walk to the diner and get us coffee and breakfast after a quickie, but if you’re all fired up to get fucked, maybe food can wait.”

Oh good. He certainly sounded enthusiastic. Expression turning the sexy-intense that always meant good things for me, he moved to roll me to my back, but I held up a hand.

“Um. Coffee is a good idea. I might…need a minute. For those extra instructions? The part I do alone?”

“Oh.” His eyes widened, and his mouth quirked like he was trying hard not to chuckle. “Privacy. You’ve got it, but not sure I’m going to be able to eat, thinking about you in the shower.”

I made a face. “That’s not the sexy part.”

“You’re the sexy part, all of you.” He chucked me under the chin. Damn, but I loved how he seemed to find every little thing I did hot. I’d never had a person so into me, and it was fucking intoxicating, knowing everything from panties to wrestling around together could get Malik going for me. He pressed a soft kiss to my mouth before releasing me. “You don’t have to be embarrassed, baby. Logistics aside, you cleaning yourself up so I can fuck you senseless? That’s pretty damn sexy.”
