She quickly completed her inventory. Everything was well stocked except for the bodywash. Whoever had ordered it had obviously thought that one small vial of soap would be sufficient for a room. Guests in a resort like this might shower a couple of times a day after swimming or doing any of the activities that would be available. She made a note to triple the supplies and to have the staff place two bottles of bodywash in each room when they prepped. Otherwise, someone would be making soap deliveries all over the resort.

Taking a few minutes, she set up one cart to illustrate how each of the housekeepers should stock their cart before each shift. Sadie paused to take a picture of the cart. It was possible that the staff would suggest tweaks to her design, and she’d be willing to update the model. She knew they would be the experts, but she was simply providing them with a starting point. Training the staff would be coming soon.

After a quick look around, Sadie smiled. She’d worked in hotel reception years ago, but it had been a while. She was excited to get back to this kind of work, but she knew she would double-check herself for a while to ensure she didn’t forget anything.

As she left the supply room, Sadie referred to her list. Her phone buzzed in her pocket, and she froze. She pulled her phone out to look at the caller ID. An unknown number.

“Hello?” she said hesitantly.

“I don’t know what the fuck you think you’re doing, but I can promise you that trying to…”

Sadie disconnected from the call and stared at the device. How did he keep contacting her? She quickly blocked that number. He must have bought a dozen disposable phones. Briefly debating if she could ignore unknown numbers when they flashed on her screen, Sadie knew she’d have no choice. This was a new job. What if one of the employees or her boss called?

Maybe she could ask for a work phone. Quickly, she added an item to her list to compose an email to her boss. She could word it so he wouldn’t know she had a problem.

Relieved, she checked her next item and headed back down to the reception desk to make sure the reservation system was working correctly. Stepping into the elevator, Sadie wondered how busy the resort would be when it opened. Already, she’d seen the slick advertising campaigns the owner was launching in the lucrative U.S. market. Coming to New Zealand was a bucket list item for many people.

If they get to hang out with the hunks I met this morning, everyone is going to want to be here.

Sheer masculinity had radiated from each of the men who had arrived today. She’d tried to keep herself together as she’d spoken to each of them. Even that guy with the computer bags and the baseball cap hiding half his face was evidently in better shape than most athletes. And that last one…

Sadie filed away the image of Rocco that popped into her mind. Focus! Pulling herself together as she walked back to the desk, she noted a small package had been left on the counter and knew she’d missed the delivery man. It was addressed to Rocco Thompson. Shaking her head, she decided getting another infusion of Daddy Rocco right now wasn't prudent.

With a crinkle of the packaging, she set it aside to deliver later. Sadie pulled up the reservations system and created a sample reservation. To her delight, she discovered that not only could she successfully book a room, she could schedule classes with the resort experts for lots of experiences. Anything from hikes into the mountain with a picnic to different skill levels of mountain climbing had Rocco’s name next to them as the activity coach.

The other men all had activities associated with their names, too. Sadie got lost in the choices as she read all the options. This resort really was a paradise for overworked people who wanted a total escape with a variety of activities. From stretching out on a chaise lounge under the trees to scuba diving, if people couldn’t find something fun to do here, they wouldn’t find it anywhere.

She quickly checked off a few activities that sounded fun to try and finished creating the reservation so she could check that the system worked. With a ding, it arrived in the hotel’s email system and then went straight through the computer system to register the activity, noting any special requests. Her gaze landed on one section where a message flashed.

Activity enrollment forwarded automatically to the guide.

The system sends them an email?

She looked to see who was involved with each of the activities. Rocco, Rocco, Rocco… All the activities she had enrolled in, just for practice, were with him! Something inside her panicked, and she furiously pressed buttons on the screen to delete the practice reservation. When a checkmark appeared confirming its removal, Sadie exhaled the breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding.
