And he did. When his orgasm consumed him, it affected his entire body and his mind. There was nothing else in the universe except Sadie.

Chapter Nineteen

Sadie was still trying to catch her breath, even after her Daddy had left the room to dispose of the condom. Even after he’d returned and gently wiped her pussy with a warm washcloth. Even after he’d crawled back onto the bed, arranged her so he could spoon her, and pulled the covers over them.

His fingers trailed up and down her arm, causing goosebumps. He kissed her neck and shoulder over and over.

“Thank you, Daddy,” she murmured.

He chuckled. “You’re thanking me for sex?”

“Yes. It was amazing. I want you to know I appreciated it, so you’ll do it again.” She twisted to look at him. “When can we do it again?” She didn’t care that she sounded eager.

He laughed. “Aren’t you sore? You were so tight.”

She shook her head. “No. It felt amazing. Perfect. Life-affirming.”

He smiled. “That good, huh?”

She gasped and twisted farther to more fully meet his gaze. “Are you making fun of me?”

“Never, Cookie. That was the best sex of my life, and do you know why?”

She didn’t. “No.”

“Because I’ve never had sex with my perfect life partner.”

She smiled and snuggled in closer, letting her face relax against the pillow. “That sounds so nice.” She sighed contentedly.

After long moments of silence, she knew she needed to snap back to reality. “Do you think I’m safe here?”

“Yes, sweetheart. Safer than anywhere else on Earth. No one can get to you here. Did you not see how secure that basement is? And this top floor is damn safe, too. The outside of the building isn’t conducive to scaling. Someone would have to repel down from the roof to get to these windows.”

She gasped. “What if they do?” Her heart rate picked up.

“Magnus would catch them before they could ever get that close to the building.”

“But Magnus can’t watch the monitors twenty-four-seven. The six of you can’t manage that alone. There will be times when—”

Rocco cut her off with a finger to her lips. “The system has a trigger. It will alert Magnus that something is amiss even if he’s not watching.”

“Did it do that tonight?”

“I’m sure it did, but the trigger would’ve been at the same time the alarms went off because a shot to the outdoor camera is what brought the alert.”

“Oh…” She was shaking, though. “What if…”

Rocco grabbed her fingers and squeezed them between her breasts. “You let Daddy and the others worry about all the ‘what ifs,’ okay? I don’t want you to worry. As long as you stay inside this building, you can go about your day, doing your job. If you need to go outside for any reason, you let Daddy know, and I’ll take you.”

“What if there had been guests here? What if those bad men keep coming even after we open? That would give the resort a horrible reputation, and then people wouldn’t come here for vacation, and Danger Bluff Mountain Resort would be ruined and—”

“Sadie…” he warned, cutting her off again. “I don’t think these guys will still be in the country when the resort officially opens for business. They’re obviously determined, which means they’re not going to give up and lie low somewhere for very long. They will make their next move sooner rather than later, and everyone will be ready.”

“Okay,” she murmured, though she wasn’t sure she believed him. It all seemed so surreal. So many things had happened in just a few days. She’d gone from being homeless and jobless in the United States to having her dream job in New Zealand, meeting the perfect Daddy, and moving in with him.

Surely her luck couldn’t hold out much longer. The universe wasn’t nearly that kind to her. Some people didn’t get their happily ever after, and Sadie was struggling to believe it could be possible for her.

The truth was it was easier to remind herself this could all go up in smoke in a heartbeat than let herself think she could have everything.

“Are you sure it wouldn’t be better for everyone if I left New Zealand?”

“Positive, Cookie. That’s not going to happen.” He held her tighter. “This is where you belong. This country, this resort, this room, this bed, these arms.”

An alarm went off, and for a moment, Sadie thought it was happening again. She jerked in Rocco’s arms, her breath catching in her lungs.

“It’s just my phone, sweetheart.” Rocco rolled away from her for a moment, and the noise stopped. “It’s time for me to get up. Why don’t I tuck you into my bed so you can sleep for a while longer?”

She shook her head and rolled to her back. “No. I need to get up, too. I have lists of things that need to get done before the resort can officially open. I can’t stay in bed all day.”
